I don't pretend to know what is best for our team right now. I have no idea, out of who is available for the job, we should pick. The Cam Cameron incident has me spooked about first time head coaches. Some guys like Sean Payton in New Orleans come in and excel. But one thing needs to be said about retread coaches. Several of the coaches in the playoffs currently are retreads. 2 of them have won Super Bowls with their retread team, and one of them, Bellichick, has won 3.
I'd love to find the next Mike McCarthy or Sean Payton and spend the next decade kicking the rest of the NFL's teeth in. I just don't know that there is a hot prospect out there that can do that for us. I don't know that any of the retreads can either. We may have just picked a terrible time to need a new coach.
