Sean Smith played WR in High School.

One of the negative comments on draft day was that he didnt have alot of defensive experience.

I think he has shown alot of promise at CB. I also dont really think it would be a great idea to "mess with the formula". I love the idea of having a young elite CB duo here for a long time.

But at 6-3 210, he's built like the receiver that we're going to be searching for. Just idea, any solid opinions?

This thread is just going to get slammed, but with reason...
Sean Smith has way to much potential to be moved like that, plus he probably shifted positions because he couldn't catch in the frist place.

Weren't they thinking of toying with him in the red zone this pre-season?

I like the red zone idea for hail marys but no, he is a high potential cornerback who will be much better for the experience he has garnered this season. Let himstick to the position that he was drafted for.

and who would take his place at corner?

Jason Allen???....yea,right.

It'd be neat if he could come in for an offensive play here or there. But right now, he really needs to focus on corner - lots of work to do.

i believe he switched positions because they had alot of WRs and no corners at Utah...but im not sure i thought thats what i read or heard.

I think hes got too much potential at CB to make a switch like this. Hes already made the switch once and hes devoted all this time to learning the CB position. If he doesnt pan out and become a very good corner in a few years (aka Jason Allen, i know he got switched to cb from safety but u get my point) then maybe you can consider something like this but were tryin to solidify the secondary and im very pleased so far with Vontae and Sean.

...and maybe he could play a little baseball in the off season... this isn't deon sanders we are talking about... if we want a physical team, juggling him between two totally opposite positions is ignorant... deon couldn't (or wouldn't) tackle... that is one of the pitfalls of an ironman player, they forget what side of the ball they are on... if he had been drafted to play wr then make him a wr, but he was drafted to play cb so leave the plan alone

One of the reason he played CB and not WR at Utah were his bad hands. You might survive with bad hands as CB but not as WR. Size is not everything, besides the fact that he has to learn to run routes and all that stuff. If size was everything Turner would be already starting

high school was a long time ago

WHY?! How about we just get ourselves some game-changing recievers, and let Smith do what he was drafted to do...cover receivers.
