No, it's not one of thoses great idea threads, I was just thinking. How in the world has it been sooo long since we've had a decent qb for this franchise? How did we manage to always get the sucky qb's? The whole culpepper/brees situation, yeah common sense "take the guy who doesn't have a screwed up shoulder rather than the knee". How is it that we were so unlucky to take the wrong qb? How does the Miami Dolphins manage to have for so many years front offices and coaches that SUCK!!?? WHile most teams get better, we just got ****ter..we went the opposite way lol. every year I stay opitmistic and happy about the next year, "ok we did this, so we should be looking good". Nope, we end up sucking. Just venting lol...pointless, I know..:yap:

I dont think its luck, its more like bad scouting and not drafting prospects when available. Previous regimes have been constantly trying to come up with the"Quick Fix".....that has landed us where we are now. I dont think its luck, its lack of organizational knowledge and not being honest with the roster and free agents available.

A QB can't do it on is own either. Really our offensive philosiphy has never been established since Marino retired. The only time we had a reliable gameplan was with Ricky in 02 and 03 and we tried to kill him because he was a one man show and everyone knew what we were doing. I say it's more of bad coaching and strategies than QB's.

Well said... I agree... The Dolphins philosphy had changed under Jimmy Johnson with a more ball control type offense and a dominant defense. Since that change the Dolphins have been struggling through out the years to have balance. Couple with different coaches and terrible drafts the Dolphins have been on a steady decline...

The Dolphins were extremely lucky to have two franchise quarterbacks nearly back-to-back in Bob Griese and Dan Marino. That just doesn't happen very often. San Francisco did it with Joe Montana and Steve Young, but that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Miami has also been looking for a franchise left tackle since Richmond Webb left about 10 years ago. Those positions are just so hard to fill, which is why teams reach so often for them. Unfortunately, we are finding out the hard way how the other half lives. Hopefully, this situation will turn around quickly with some of the young draft picks of the last few years.
