Just because free agency seems to have slowed, here's a Zach Thomas highlight video.

I grew up watching him, I never knew just how rare a talent he was til he was gone.

100% agree. We drafted him just when I graduated high school. At this point I can say I never knew what we had....I mean, I knew he was awesome, but yeah...I just never knew. I miss the guy.

Man, I forgot how good JT was at using his hands....WOW!

forever my personal favorite dolphin

Mine too.

I remember the audible duels he had with Peyton Manning. Zach would call out the Indi play, Manning would change the play and then Zach would respond. Whoever got in that last change usually won that play.

Thomas was one of the most intense people I have met.

I met Zach when he was doing a charity basketball game against the Jags in Jacksonville. The Phins players were signing autographs and chatting up the fans before and after the game, while the host Jags players were barely seen. I congratulated Zach on a great season and he frowned and apologized for not winning the Super Bowl.

When they played the game, Zach was the shortest guy on the court, but no one wanted to get in his way. He was the highest scorer for the Phins after his buddy Jason Taylor.

I wish he would come back and coach.

One more anecdote.

I live out in CO now and John Elway told the local radio that the hardest hit he ever took was from Zach Thomas. He said his teeth rattled.

I agree. JT was a true football player and an awesome athlete. He played with such speed and leverage. Loved how he would go for the strip sack and how quickly his head would get around/recover to find the fumble.

Its amazing what one can do with an 'average NFL' body when you combine it with instincts, work ethic, and a healthy will to hurt people.

Thomas had off the charts instincts.....

Great players make it look easy.

Great players make you think anyone can do what they do.

Great players make everyone around them great.

Finding great players is the 2nd hardest thing to do. Replacing great players is the 1st.

Awesome to watch him play again. My 2nd favorite player of all-time. A historically great linebacker and I wish he was better respected as the extraordinary player he was. I want him in the HOF. Rewarding the incredible underdog force of nature he was adds more prestige to the HOF than the HOF would add to his legacy.

I want another Zach Thomas haha...my favorite player growing up

The leverage thing is such an art that he perfected. It's crazy how he use his length and leverage to get into Tackles and then just rip away with explosion to the QB. I truly and honestly understand why D.Jordan from a physical stand point is compared to him. Man, if the kids works out with JT and learns half of his leverage and hand usage stuff...man o man!
