Knowing that FOR ONCE we are going into the season not wondering about who our QB is and how well he will fair. When was the last time you could remember feeling this good about the QB position... The last time I felt this confident in our starting QB was the beginning of the 99 season. Its been downhill basically ever since.

Sorry, I just felt the need to remind those who have forgotten about how gruesomely bad our QB position has been and to relish the fact we have a true starting QB and not some 2nd or 3rd string bum we spent a 2nd round pick for.

I feel the same way. I think Henne is the future and will have the keys to the car soon, but, regardless, the QB position has no question mark on it this season as far as the starting spot goes. The receivers and team can go in with a mindset unlike one they've been able to have for years.

There will always be a hater out there, and I'm gonna be the one. I just have a bad feeling about pennington this year. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Pennington is a QB that keeps his mistakes to a minimum. That's my favorite part about him. That's why i'm confident in him. He's not the most physically gifted obviously, but when he drops back in my mind I believe he's going to make a wise decision. Compare that to like, every time Fiedler would drop back and i'd cringe.. it's definitely a breath of fresh air.

I remember taking a little breath in when I saw him in his first pre-season game with us.....I was like..."Oh....Oh god. We've got a QB!"

I remember the first game, and he threw that duck into the endzone as the clock ticked away.
But he got better as the season went on, minus the games he was asked to drop back more than 30 times. When he's asked to carry a team, we lose. When he is asked to compliment and lead a team, we win.

I'm thankful for having him and happy he'll keep us respectable while schooling our young QBs....but.....that happiness is tempered by the probability, based on his career record against Top 10 Scoring Defenses, that he won't be taking us too far into the playoffs. But hey, after the long draught, just getting to The Dance is a breath of fresh air.

I think penny has a better team here than he ever had with the jets tho..

After spending most of this decade talking about a lack of stabilty/talent at the quarterback position. It really is a refreshing change not having to talk about it. Miami really truly does have three "terrific" quarterbacks. Four, if you count Ronnie.

You have mentioned this stat on numerous occasions. It might be a fact about his history but I dont really believe it is any indication of his future performances against those top defenses that you are referring too. Naturally the only way for him to break this stigma that you are hanging on him is to perform well and I think this season you are going to see just that.

This is the healthiest he has entered into a season since before his first injury. I will not be surprised to see increased velocity on his throws. The way this staff has built our team fits Penningtons game better then teams he had around him in NY. With our improved O-Line, he should have the luxary of being able to allow plays to develop, good protection to keep him healthy and on his feet, a solid running game to keep his 3rd and longs to a minimum.

Pennington might not be the kind of QB that is going to throw that laser strike 60 yrds down field for the game winning TD in the last seconds of a game. He is however the kind of guy that will methodically disect a defense like a surgeon and march us into the endzone and eat 4-6 minutes off of the clock in the process. I think now that he has a team that compliments his style of play and coaches that call plays to his strengths, we are going to see him shake your knock on him.

Just like any other QB, if we keep defenses out of the backfield. Pennington will be fine against top ten defenses. He reads them as well as any of the top QB's in this leauge. At this point I am content having Pennington under center and I am in no hurry for Henne or White to get thier chance. I am a little bit apprehensive about the prospect of him leaving at the end of this season.

Just for the record, I am accepting that you did some research on his sucess against top ten defenses before you posted this. Im not going back and double checking your numbers because I assume your information is accurate and I am way too lazy to go through the leg work involved. I will say Miami is one of the teams that has had a top ten Defense that he has had to face and I have witnessed him handling us just fine. Considering our schedule this year we should have a pretty good idea how well he can handle defenses at the end of this season. He is going to be challenged this year. I think he will rise to the occassion.

Are you crazy? Maybe you forgot all the scoring drives we had to have in the 4th qtr that Pennington lead us down the field and got us the points we needed. All the guy did was lead this team last year.
