I have been on vacation the last 10 days......I am back and I plan on being at most of the Dolphin practices....this weekend.

I was very satisfied with our draft...it was just that. You can say that SETH McKINNEY was a solid and safe choice....he will learn from RUDDY this year...and replace him the next season. I think NORV got another athletic, pass-catching TE...and one that he can mold....it will take him some time...but I believe that RANDY MCMICHAEL will be a factor in this offense... I will have to see if OMARE LOWE has the speed to play at a pro corner level....he has good size... SAM SIMMONS will have to make it on special teams...and will have to show that he can get off the line of scrimmage---at WR. I see him on the practice squad..... I also felt the Dolphins should have drafted at least another OL...especially with the 7th pick. LEONARD HENRY...a major candidtate for the practice squad...looks like another AUTRY DENSON, type..

As for the 8 undrafted players that we signed-----I was not impressed with the list at all. The Punter....ROUSSEL has the best chance to make the team. ROYALS still has the big edge.,...he is a veteran..and he is a darn good holder.

I have heard that WANNY had polled the veteran offensive lineman....for input on who would be the better FA DL to sign.....either BURNETT or SINCLAIR? And the winning endorsement was for the Dolphins to sign ROB BURNETT... it was MARK DIXON who really seemed to be the one OL who was positively sure that BURNETT was the guy that the Dolphins should try and sign up first. I would expect then...that the DOlphins will look more toward ROB BURNETT...than Sinclair...and I really think that BURNETT will sign here..and for the veteran minimum.

I have heard that CHRIS CARTER will give it one more final attempt to join the DOlphins. But from what I understand....I think the Dolphins are also questioning the sincerity now as well....with regards to CARTER. The Dolphins gave CARTER a chance to sign for the minimum with incentives....early on....but really wanted CARTER to have made his decision before the draft. Now...the Dolphins are resolved to see if this kid SIMMONS can play the WR position..as they drafted him with the hope that he can make the team and contribute on special teams. I think it is now a long-shot for CARTER to join the Dolphins....unless he just says he will play for the veteran minimum...for 1 year only. The Dolphins are certainly not as interested right now....in signing CARTER...as they were many weeks ago. They also may want to see who gets released after JUNE 1st....and are now thinking....if we sign a veteran WR...well...lets get one that is younger than 36 years old...and one who may want to play more than 1 year....instead of playing one final year---before going into broadcasting...as CARTER will surely do.

I have also heard that RAY LUCAS is under a little pressure this upcoming training camp and pre-season. The team wants to see some improvement with his production...and from what I understand...he is no lock to secure the #2 qb role...as CADE McNown is expected to challenge him for that role. Plus...LUCAS will be a FA after this season. I think the Dolphins have been a little disappointed with LUCAS...as far as the mental side of the game goes. He has made a lot of mistakes that the Dolphins brass has been somwhat surprised about...particularly last pre-season. Lucas needs to show more....that is the bottom line. As for Mcnown....he has been a model citizen since joining the team....and he has made somewhat of an impression with regards to learning the base offensive scheme of NORV TURNER......his work with MIKE SHULA has given him a much better confidence it seems.

Like I said.... I will be at most of these mini-camp practices....I will report what I can.....but without the pads....and the hitting....its almost impossible to judge accurately. I am more interested in what the fans are saying...in the stands...and all the buzz...etc. Just getting to know which players are wearing what jersey numbers....is the first priority. I will let you know who is getting yelled at.....and who is getting the spank on the butt. I want to see NORV TURNER's offensive scheming....and of course...I want to see RICKY WILLIAMS running with the football.....even in shorts and no hitting.....I still will report it.....as "I thought RICKY looked great today" If RICKY fumbles the football.....I will surely let you know as well.

Its here....Dolphins football....2002. Give me my $3.00 Diet Coke....and my $4.00 cold pretzel....and let me hear TONY WISE yelliing from atop of the bleachers....as I see who the hell he is screaming at....with my new Dolphin camp roster and program. And he is yelling at who....... Oh....that is SETH MCKINNEY... number...??

WB DCH. Apparently according to the Herald the talks with Burnett/Sinclair are both on hold for at least the next week or two. Perhaps the phins are taking the same stance with them as they are with Carter. A "take the min or leave it" attitude because they would rather wait and see who comes up June 1st. With the phins being 3 million (including the rooks #'s)under the cap we are actually kinda a "player" now in being able to sign one modestly priced FA and perhaps 3-4 veteran cap reduction (750k for 450k) signings.

The question becomes though: Who is likely or is being rumored to be released June 1st. We could have some fun debating over those merits for a while :)

Thanks

Info here on in is sparse to say the least. Thanks DCH !

great news/analysis thanks again DCH.

I got used to and grew to like McKinney, too. So Ruddy is starter - guaranteed - for 2002 at least ?

Burnett will better fill Mixon's role whie Sinclair would better fill Lo
Bro's role, so IMO Burnett is a better choice.

If Cade beats Lucas, is Lucas replaced with youngster ?

great to have you back DCH...im looking forward to your reports from camp...jd

Thanx alot DCH! I to needed that dose of info. Well hopefully after its all over you will tell us who you really are.

I think Lucas would just hold a clipboard until the end of the season and not be resigned is all. As for sinclair doing Bromell's job better whoa man. You need to take off the rose colored glasses there. If Sinclair came in here we could expect no more then 5.5 sacks tops and Sinclair would have to be revitalized somewhat to achieve even those numbers.

I was just saying that Sinclair is more a pass rush specialist, like Lo Bro. Where are Burnett s/b better ag. the run and not a good pash rusher.
