i have been a subscriber of directv for the last 10 plus years and have seen every dolphins game since even though i live in buffalo ny.god i love the sunday ticket .i was excited to see bess make the team last year and when he filled in for cammarillio he looked real good. i was wondering just how much can he improve this year and the years to follow. my big question is just how good is bess?is he a number 2 receiver or just a fringe player who will have to fight for his job every year during preseason

I think bess is real good. He'll never be a #1 receiver imo but he is great working from the slot and is really good at getting open and making the grab. I hate how everyone compares people to welker but he really plays just like welker and has that kind of impact to a team. I dont know if you can say he is our "best" reciever because defenses dont focus on stopping him but he's our reciever that takes the most advantage of mismatches and gets his job done. Plus hes tough as nails.

I don't think there's much topside to Bess. I think he's porobably as close to as good as he's ever going to be. That said, he's my favorite Dolphin WR right now. I've got loads of respect for him as a person and a player. I hope he's our next long term #3/4 WR.

I see him improving yearly. I think this year he go tthe speed of the game down and this season we might see a more stronger reciever with better route running. I got the feeling he has a lot to prove in this league and will go all out to prove it.

He is a very good slot receiver and is Welker-like in that role. Not sure if he will ever develop into a 90+ reception receiver, but he is a good guy over the middle and a guy you can count on to make the catch. He fights for extra yards and is just a player you WANT on your team.

He won't ever be a #1 and probably shouldn't be a #2. He is a solid #3 slot receiver.

Bess will have a decent to good year again regardless of progression which i think he should progress nicely and become a little better. He has good hands, guts and speed. Perfect slot reciever if you ask me.

Can't say it much better than that. Basically, Bess is very good as a slot receiver. Having a tough guy in the slot, who catches everything thrown his way, can get YAC, and fights for those few extra inches is a great asset to have. Bess is my favorite WR on the team. I hope he can continue to make an impact in the slot here in Miami for many years.

I think he can be a hell of a slot guy, with the capability to move up due to injuries to receiver/returner. He will be even more affective if the #1/2 guys can elevate their game so he is always 1 on 1.

Bess is a natural football player.

Funny how everyone sticks him in the slot cause of his size.

I think he was more productive as our # 2 than in the slot. He gets seperation and gets yard after the catch.

He was a rookie....trust....he will even get better.

My dad is a huge UH fan, has season tickets and is some sort of booster so he gets to meet the players. He said Bess is a quality guy off the field and works hard catching everything thrown his way on the field. He is the solid role player type of guy that championship teams have. Never going to hit 1,000 yards, but he'll contribute any way he can.

Speed?

lol. Please tell us just how fast Bess is.

He is slooooooooooooooowwwwwwww -- probably the slowest starting WR in the NFL. Many LBs and even DEs can outrun him.

Where he makes his living is in decent quickness and good hands and working hard.

But in terms of talent there are UDFAs available every year with much more upside.

However, put Bess on a team that has a Ginn attracting downfield attention and opening up the underneath routes and he'll make those grocery getter receptions. Put any DB in the NFL one on one w. him though [from the LOS] and he's shut down and shut out of difference making in a game.

With any real talent at positions 2-5 at the WR corps on a team and Bess struggles to make the team.

What? Why? He was a rookie last year, therefore, I don't quite understand this opinion.

That's cool. Look, it's just my opinion and, I could be wrong. I was not meaning to dog the guy. On the contrary, I think he's very good at what his game is. I just don't see him getting any quicker, his hips more fluid, or his hands better. That's not a knock, I just don't see him really being much, measureably better. As I said, he's my favorite WR on the Dolphins right now, and, probably my third favorite Dolphin overall, behind Bell and Fasano.
