Now I am not an overt Ginn supporter.. but I do also believe he is young and developing. So I was thinking. Great teams build in the draft. 2 yrs ago we drafted.... a WR... Ginn. This is his shot.. his chance.. after this year, there will be no doubt in what we have in him.

So there have been countless posts (not threads) talking about needing a legit #1 WR. I'm not surprised we haven't signed a FA WR. Especially considering that WRs.. good ones.. come into their own during their 3rd year or beyond. So... We draft a WR somewhere. I wouldn't bet on it in the first 2 rds unless there is a guy you can't pass up. But this is Ginn's year. Yes, Im saying it.. especially since I've bashed him so much.. This is Ginns year to legitimize himself. He may not be a T.O... But all he has to be is solid and move the chains. He already can be explosive in the return game.. He can be coached. I say that the trifecta would be happy enough to stick with our receiving corps.. and let Ginn be the guy. If need be.

Would you be happy with Ted Ginn Jr. as our #1 receiver?

I just can't see him ever being an effective number two receiver. I think he's a solid number two, someone who runs deep routes very well and is only thrown to in certain situations.

having teddy on the field regardless of his numbers make us a better team and open things up for others, teddy is a good #2 and will be dynamic in a deep passing offense. Ted Ginn IMO is progressing at a nice pace and he is a team player who works his *** off. I never understood the hate on some people have for this kid.

The hate comes from his draft position.. I would think... and also that we passed over Brady Quinn.. (Which I think most would prefer having Henne)..

Ginn a #1... I could very well us going into this season with Ginn as the guy... and drafting another Wr threat.

I second the motion on Ginn going in as the guy BUT also either adding a top notch veteran WR (Holt/Harrison) or one of the top 7 WRs in the draft to complement him and the rest of our WRs.

Personally, I haven't seen enough from Brandon London to think he's going to be more than a special teams player in this league.

We have no one to fill in on the outside for Ginn or Camarillo if either one or both happens to be out of the lineup!!

I think Ginn has very good hands and very good speed. He has to work on his route running (which is improving) and his toughness (needs to improve a lot). Statisically, if he caught 1 more pass per game he would have had similar stats to Randy Moss, so he's not so shabby, especially when you consider that he doesn't have the strong arm quarterback or vertical passing game that Moss had.

i really want to see ginn become kind of a steve smith type of player. i think it would be great to see him in a few years with henne throwing deep bombs to him. he has a ton of speed so he can break away from DBs really quickly.

Ginn is a prime candidate for the 3rd year leap. Coming out of OSU he was purely a speed guy and was very RAW in his route running. He relied on his elusiveness and straightline speed. Now he is entering his third year and has 2 solid years of NFL coaching behind him. Watch out, if he can bulk up a little bit and be better off the jam, he will be a tremendous threat from any spot on the field.

I would LOVE to see Ginn become a great player for us. He's got some things to improve, but so does just about every player in the league. This is definitely his make/break year, especially with the fans. Unless we sign a vet, he goes into the season as THE guy (even if we draft a young stud, which I would still like to see).

I would have to simply say no. He has not impressed me enough. I simply do not see him as a number one. Hell for that matter there are times I have a hard time seeing him as a number 2. As far as a number one guy goes we can do better. Ginn has made some strides but the fact is he has been a project. I personally want a true number one and Ginn can continue to grow into a role he is comfortable with. I think receiver is something we covet in the draft. Because frankly our receivers do not scare opposing defenses.

And I unlike many on here do not buy into the crap that Ginn might show up more once Henne is in there. If Ginn were a true number one he would be lighting it up no matter who was throwing him the rock.

I hate to use that argument when discussing Ginn but the logic is sound. How can it not hurt a wide receiver when they have a quarterback who can't throw every type of route?

Well I will just say this much Qb's are graded and looked at hard and evaluated at making all the throws. Pennington would have never made it into the pros if he couldn't make alot of those throws.

Now the same can be said about the wide receiver not being able to run his route correctly. If he doesn't run the right routes he doesn't see or get the ball.

People think that because he was drafted at number nine that automatically makes him ready to be a monster in the league. That is where the hate comes from, but if the truth is told he was probably the most raw talent in that draft.
He has shown good hands (very few drops), and his route running was much improved. The coaches do nothing but praise him (they didn't draft him), which is something they don't have to do. Even Penny said he was working extremely hard to be a better route runner.
I guess I don't understand why Chris Chambers got a pass for only having 1 great year with a bunch of years like Ginn just had, but with 1 or 2 more TD's.

C.C. Averages over 8 years with Miami. Included the games from last year with sd.
55 catches 779 yrds 14.2 ypc 5.8 tds
Year 1
48 Catches 883 yrds 18.1 ypc 7 tds
year 2
52 catches 734 yrds 14.1 ypc 3 tds

Ginn through 2 years
45 catches 605 yrds 13.4 ypc 3 tds

Year 1
34 catches 420 yrds 12.4 ypc 2tds total.
Year 2
56 catches 790 yrds 14.1 ypc 4 tds total
And in year two Ginn damn near double his rookie year stats. People loved Chambers whose stat averages were bloated by one big season. But dog Ginn who improved drastically from year one to year two. Also chamber as a rookie was in a much better situation then Ginn was. I don't care fielder was a million time better then lemon.

He may be our number one but he won't be a typical number one receiver because we just don't run that type of offense. We spread the ball around and that's just the way it is. Remember Ginn had a huge game against the Jets and the very next game he was barely thrown to.

So, I wouldn't get too hung up on whether he breaks out or whatever. As long as he's moving the chains, making wonder catches in double coverage, spreading the field for underneath routes and scoring on reverses I'll be happy.
