I don't remember who it was but someone went on this rant that if you don't live in Miami, you aren't a "true" Dolphins fan a while ago. Just to add to this, look at the poll on Finheaven's front page. 54% of fans either don't get the games or have to watch on Directv meaning they live outside the Miami area. Another 14% watch the games in a sportsbar which may or may not be in Florida. So, more than likely, upwards of 60% of the fans on this site do not live in the Miami area. That is a good number of people who are claimed by one poster not to be real fans. I'm sure I speak for alot of people when I say you have to be possibly more of a diehard Dolphin fan to root for them outside of Miami than in Miami (no disrespect to the fans in Miami). Personally, I live in Buffalo and have always been a Fin Fan by choice while enduring ridicule, being punched, yelled at, beer poured on and snowballs thrown at when attending games. Also, alot of us spend extra money for Sunday Ticket just to watch the games that people in Miami get for free. I don't know about you, but I don't appreciate being called a "fake fan". That's all, sorry for the rant, little late on the response but the poll kinda triggered this. Props to all the out-of-town Fin Fans!!!

Here's a beer for you!:beerbang: I have been a Dolphin fan since I was 5 years old. I have never lived in Miami, but was born in New York, lived in Indiana,Oregon, and finally stopped in California 13 years ago! I have stuck by my Dolphins through thick, and thin, and follow them as close as I can. I will die a beloved Dolphin fan, and if I have my way about it, I will be put in the ground wearing my colors!

long island here...15 minutes from hofstra, jets camp...no one who knows me would ever question my love for the fins...whoever that dude was, well, he is a wanker...if you know what I'm saying.

Well I lived in So. Fla. for most of my life, but had to move away 4 yrs ago for business...anyone who thinks I am not a true fan is sadly mistaken...however, the context of the post may have been regarding putting butts in the seats at the stadium...that has been discussed numerous times...While I lived there, I had season tix for 15 years and when I gave them up, still attended several games a year...It's not about being out-of-town fans or in-the-seats fans...it's about following the team you want to and rooting them on however you see them...

I will say the context of the post was not about putting butts in the seats. Personally, I'd rather watch a game from the living room than at the stadium, maybe b/c I have never been to a game in Miami (which is going to change Dec. 4th when I see the Phins-Bills....Section 413, Row 28!!!). The reason for the post was just to respond to that one fan who criticized all of us for not living in Miami.

I've been a Dolphin fan since I got hooked on them on the Christmas Day 1970 playoff game vs. the Chief. I'd be willing to be there have been less than a dozen games in that 34 going on 35 year span that I haven't seen or listened to on radio. I've planned vacations around being able to see the Phins at TC and at Joe Robbie. Any FOOL who says I'm not a "true" Phin fan is, well, a damned idiot.

Bro, you should see all the fans out here on the west coast. Watch the Dec. 11th game in San Diego, and you will see Dolphin pride first hand! I am thinking about taking a sign to say, Hello Crunch Time!

Heck, some people feel that you have to have seen the team live. Living a decent distance from Miami and not being financially independent has made it difficult to see them, but I will be going to Raymond James in October to see them on the road. I just don't see how certain things can dictate your level of being a fan. I come to Finheaven every day, I can name nearly every player on our roster, I watch every game that is humanly possible (including preseason). I even get violent towards inanimate objects when we are losing, which if anything should show you're level of passion.

Wow man, glad you got that out of your system.

I would never say someone that lives outside of the area could not be a huge diehard. It's seen here every day. I will say that it does not get any more diehard than me. Tooting my horn. Season tickets for over 25 years, training camps for 15, over 30 jerseys in my closet, about 30 hats! All Dolphins related............ man I need a life. :D

I will turn it around and say that those fans outside the area have no right to complain about the fans here in Miami.

i live in Miami man....and this year its time to throwdown...i'll be at the stadium knockin heads.

We are all fans of the Dolphins no matter where we live! We wish our team to do the best, and we pull for them on a weekly basis. It is just great to be able to be Dolphin fans again with the great coaches that we have, along with having a great draft for once in a long time! Dolphin life as we know it is about to be outstanding once again!:beerbang:

No doubt man, you have had season tix 3 years longer than I have been alive...that is diehard...I can't challenge your Dolphins collection yet but I do have 7 jerseys, 9 hats and not a bare spot on my bedroom walls all because of this team. I even got in trouble at work for streaming 790 the ticket on my computer. Apparently it is not appropriate for engineers to be listening to Dolphins Sports Talk. They ended up blocking my access to it which blows. :shakeno:

I live in another country where we really don't care about ******* statements like you aren't a real fan because....
But I'm a fan in my opinion because I avidly followed the team since about 1980.

Bob and Doug McKenzie land?

Look, you have to separate the wheat from the chaf. Anyone who says that true fans have to live in the city of the team is hosed. They play in a stadium located in North Miami Beach (Ives Dairy Road west) Just barely south of the b Broward County line - they practice at Nova, which is in what county? Broward!:goof:

Now, all that being said, it doesnt' mean dick. I was a kid when I started following the dolphins, the year Pual Warfield came down from the Brown's. I spent 18 years in the Navy and followed the Dolphins true blue, Philippines, Italy, Guam, etc. When I was deployed on submarines I used to get family grams from my parents telling me the scores.:)

What makes you a Dolphin Fan is what is in your heart - and of course the fact that you hate the Jets, Buffalo and New England with all your heart and soul!!!!:fire:
