Not sure if this was re-aired or not...but I just watched it. Kiper thought we would go defense in the 1st round with Amobi Okoye. Am I the only one that would be ticked off if we went defense? We did next to nothing to address the offense in the off-season so I dont see why with the draft being filled with good offensive players we'd go defense. Anyone else feel this way?

I agree, I dont understand why everyone also wants us to draft Okoye, or Landry when its a glaring need that we need offense over defense. Right now as it stands we have a top 5 defense. So say we do what some say and draft Landry or Okoye, then that pushes our defense to what, 2 or 3 maybe. And again we have an offense that can't move the ball or may be able to move it a little better than last year, then those same people will be crying and saying how bad our offense sucks...

We need o-line and qb far more than any position on the defense...Like Cam says, you can not win if you can not score points

If we went with Okoye I wouldnt be real upset, he looks like he oculd be a great player. The thing is, we need to address offense first, either OL, WR or QB. If we dont pick one of those with the first rounder i will be upset because thats what we need most. We can get defense in round 2 or 3 possibly.

No matter how good our defense is, we could still improve the secondary with Landry, and we have question marks at DL, no proven depth there, although I feel pretty good that at least one or two of our young linemen will step up and prove they can play, esp. Rod Wright. I guess Kiper is going with the BPA theory, and doesn't think we should reach for an offensive player that doesn't really warrant being drafted in the 9 slot.
I think we could make a larger impact going offense though, since we have many more needs there. To me, the best way to address both lines of thought is to trade down a few slots, get the offensive guy Cam wants at a reasonable price, and gain a pick or two in the process. All we need is a trade partner. Maybe some particularly generous GM can help us out on that one. Someone who drives a hard bargain in the same way Spielman does.

Two things:

1. Kiper, like most professionals, doesn't want to speculate on any trading scenarios because there are so many factors coming into play as far as who gets drafted first, who we would trade with along with who would be available at that particular point... I think he is just thinking in terms of best available player at #9 which, I might add, if Landry were available at that point then I would wholeheartedly agree with the notion of drafting him if we were not targeting Quinn and/or he simply wasnt avaible at that point.

2. This draft has what appears to be an amazing amount of depth for the oline this year. I reall think Houck and Cameron are drooling at the notion that they will be able to solidfy our oline with midround picks and less money upfront then what would be required in a normal draft.

...just my two cents...

If a quarterback isn't there at 9 I want Miami to go for defense and Amobi Okoye would be a great pick and there will be good receivers and linemen still available in the 2nd round for Miami to pick.

Totally mid rounds o-line, I like okoye here...

I would say just don't "reach" for anyone. As of right now the Dolphins need good players on either side of the ball. I think the highest rated player on Mueller draft board would be the way to go.

I'm 100% on the Brady Quinn band wagon...but I wouldn't be upset if we got Okeye (my personal favorite player on defense) thats of course if we don't have a legit shot at Quinn.

We'd still be able to get a solid WR prospect as well as a QB (Stanton,Edwards, Kolb) in the second, to sit behind T. Green for a year.

Although I'm hoping for Quinn I wouldn't be to upset with Okeye.

I'd be happy with him or Branch.

The way Okoye's stock has been rising lately, he may be gone before #9.

If Quinn is not available at #9, I'm okay with taking the BPA approach. Mueller has done his homework. If he feels Levi Brown or Ginn project to be average NFL players, but Landry or Willis grade out as future pro bowlers, then I say take the BPA. Then we can possibly use our next few picks on offensive players that best fit Cameron's system. I wish the draft would hurry up and get here.

BPA, BPA, BPA. When you reach for a player you have a greater chance of failure. Remember Billy Milner? How about Lorenzo Hampton? Ultimately, you want to draft the player that you think has the best value for the money you will be spending.

one of these offensive players will be available to us,jarmarcus, joe thomas, levi, and ginn.we will select one of these four. I say for the hundreth time were going to take ginn
