Just say NO to Smith at #2 !!

Edwards is lightyears better than Smith.

You draft an IMPACT player that high in the draft, you draft somebody who will start NOW that high in the draft.

Smith will NOT start this year. He's not an IMPACT player.

Edwards can make a difference this year, not in 3 years.

Pass on Smith.

Period.

you want an impact player now, go trade for edge or alexander. remember we are rebuilding! how long you want feeley as our QB?

Right. You're concerned about getting an IMPACT player, but you don't want a RB -- the position where it is UNDISPUTED by any reasonable person we have a giant hole and where virtually every 1st rounder not backing up a HOFer starts in their first year.

:rolleyes2

Why is it that at least half the Braylon Edwards fans annoy me so much they turn me against him as a player?

Because we can get an IMPACT RB LATER !!

This is a deep draft for RBs, if you were paying attention.

I'm sure glad your mentality is not running this team.

As Nick Said, he will take the player that has the most long term value to this team, I'm not saying Nick might not think thats Edwards, but I sure hope hes more open minded than you.

I'll trust whoever he picks.

Are you comparing Marino to Alex smith? You have to be kidding.

Oh wait you used a smiley to make your point it must be good.
I love people that think Alex smith is such a no brainer.

No -- I used that smiley to communicate scorn for your point.

Yes, I am comparing Marino and Bob Griese to Smith in that they are all 1st round QBs. This team has had a pretty good track record with getting QBs that way, and we finally have a coach/GM I would trust enough to pick a good guy to continue that tradition. If Saban likes the guy as the #2 pick, that's good enough for me.

I have done the analysis on RBs drafted in the first 5 picks of the draft vs. Wrs drafted in the first 5 picks. The results are not pretty. The best guy drafted there in the past 25 years was Keyshawn Johnson. If there is one place you DON'T look for an impact WR, it is up front. Out of the 10 since 1980, only 4 even have a single 1000 yard season. We can get an impact WR later, but we have to go for the sure thing if we want immediate impact -- we have to draft the best RB in the draft.

Damn, the KFFL.com Dolphins contingent are correct in their assessment that you become that much more stupid by visiting the forums at finheaven.

If Saban thought Smith was going to be the next Marino or Griese, he wouldnt even think about trading out of the spot. He knows what a crap shoot it is to draft a QB that early.

Even if he trades down a couple times?

Being a niners fan you better get off quickly then. You can't afford to waste any more of your intelligence.

Yeah, because it was such a disaster when we used our first pick on a QB in 1983. Again, it just SUCKED when we did it in 1967. :rolleyes2
Come on don't be an idot. Even without Surtain's salary cap hit If we signed Alex Smith he would be the only rookie we would be able to sign. That would be just brilliant!!

What other rookie do we need to be able to sign? Did the pick fairy leave us another 1st rounder nobody told me about? The rest of our rookies will sign for basically nothing just like 2nd-7th rounders always do. ANYONE we take at #2 is going to break the bank. That's why you think carefully before you go taking a WR so high with their staggering 40% success rate.

Seriously...do you even have a clue as to how the rookie cap influences signing top rookies? They're getting all the money allocated.

we will not take smith.why-well any other draft both of these guys would be 2nd rd picks.smith has not played under center in the pro set at all.yes, he is very smart, but fiedler was from an ivy school to.cambell-orton-fry,are not that far of.if we will take a qb,it will not be with the first pick.that's why the 2nd round pick is so great.an explosive player in rd 1,and your qb in the 2nd if saben wants one.with are new offense, you need a strong arm--deep outs ,post's ,flys.this is not a west coast offense.i'll pick cambell-td to int ratio good, and strong arm.remind you of anyone else in minn.give the kid a year, and i think we would be in good shape.

My bad, I shouldn't have said that. I just hate when people try to act like they no more than the people who actually scout these players.
