Just say NO to Smith at #2 !!

My bad, I shouldn't have said that. I just hate when people try to act like they no more than the people who actually scout these players.

It is annoying. I imagine you engage in it from time to time, though. I think we all do -- it's inevitable as a fan.

Come on don't be an idot. Even without Surtain's salary cap hit If we signed Alex Smith he would be the only rookie we would be able to sign. That would be just brilliant!!

the #2 pick gets paid #2 money period. It doesn't matter what position he plays. We are going to have to cut players, restructure do whatever it takes to get rookies signed regardless of who we draft.

what has AJ Feeleyy done!?!?! NOthing!?!?!

He survived....that alot. Considering no O-line, no running game...only one decent receiver...and lousy coaching...did you expect miracles? Well you got one...Feeley can still play...no thanks to the above.

Only one decent receiver my ***. You actually slam Booker -- A PRO BOWLER -- while defending Felley? Saying that's a tad hypocritical would be the understatement of the day!

we will not take smith.why-well any other draft both of these guys would be 2nd rd picks.smith has not played under center in the pro set at all.yes, he is very smart, but fiedler was from an ivy school to.cambell-orton-fry,are not that far of.if we will take a qb,it will not be with the first pick.that's why the 2nd round pick is so great.an explosive player in rd 1,and your qb in the 2nd if saben wants one.with are new offense, you need a strong arm--deep outs ,post's ,flys.this is not a west coast offense.i'll pick cambell-td to int ratio good, and strong arm.remind you of anyone else in minn.give the kid a year, and i think we would be in good shape.

Holy cr@p, learn to format!

I agree with you, but generalizing the thousands of members because of a few stupid posts doesn't seem like the right way to go about expressing that.

Both booker and chambers are above average, but not great WRs.

We get Braylon w/ mcmichaels and our receiving core is scary. It will make any qb look good as long as we give the qb some time in the pocket.

If Smith and Rodgers were in last years draft I could see Rodgers going before Losman. I dont think Smith would have went before Losman. I think he would have been a 2nd rd Qb. I am not sold on either but I definitely wouldnt take Smith at #2. In any other year he would be a 2nd rd Qb. Next year he would be a 2nd rd QB

I'm sorry...which one of the LAST 5 Super Bowl winners had scary WRs? How many rings does Randy Moss have?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Even if I grant you that Edwards *is* Randy Moss (which I don't), I see little reason to believe he is really so necessary.

If Smith is somehow taken at number one, was there any indication that Saban would go Edwards over Rodgers, or would he take Rodgers? I think this is crucial.

While risking reintroduction of the Feeley argument, I'd like to say that I really feel we can attribute last year's follies to:

1. Horrific coaching/strategy
2. Injuries/players leaving unexpectedly
3. Offensive line collapse (spurred on by the two above)

Because of these, every player looked much worse... quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, defensive players, ... they're all linked.

As for this draft, for the first time in a LONG time, I feel confident in the moves the organization makes. I have nothing concrete to base that on, it's just a feeling I get, based on the way Saban has gone about things thus far.

My personal opinion (which is completely uninformed, as I never watch college football, let alone study tape, like Saban/Spielman are responsible for) would be to pass on a QB with our first pick. I'd like to see what Feeley can do with a newly-revamped O-line (courtesy of newly-acquired free agents (Damion Woody and Stockar McDougle), healthy players like Damion McIntosh and Jeno James, and the expertise of highly-touted Hudson Houck), another offensive weapon (Braylon Edwards, Ronnie Brown, etc.) added to his arsenal (including Chambers, McMichael, Booker, possibly Ricky), and a year under his belt.

On a side note, I'm absolutely thrilled that the draft is tomorrow, as I'm anxious to sign on here, and not see 1.3 million threads full of fans fighting over who's the best RB, WR, QB in the draft, which position we should go after, etc.

The rams had 2 above avg wr's and no defense. They won a SB.
We have a defense.

And if Moss is anywhere near moss calibur we should take him.

alex smith is physically talented good arm, mobile 6'4", and as smart of a player as you will find!! the only knock here can be the level of competition he played against in college. although regardless of who he played it was ALLL him taking him to a BCS game!! i wont be complaining if we take him at #2...saban knows all
