Just say NO to Smith at #2 !!

I'd like either player, but you dont pass on Franchise QBs. I expect Saban to make this team competitive right away, and this may be our last chance to be in a position to take 1. If Smith is there, he'll be a Dolphin. He played in a system similar to Scott Linehans in college, hes got the size, hes got the intelligence, hes got the physical ability, and hes young. Plus with great coaching, Alex Smith could be the cornerstone of this franchise for years to come. But first the 9ers have to make their pick for that all to be possible.

Rodgers and Smith are what, 21 years old? That is perfect, especially for long-term effect. Even if they sit out for 2 years, they would start at 23 years old, which is the same as amazing senior QBs drafted so high in the past.

I'll be really upset if Smith is taken by us. I just see bust written all over him and people hyping him up like he's the second coming of Christ when in any other draft year he'd be considered an after-thought. I'm warming to the idea of taking Edwards though but I'd still rather get the RB problems sorted out first.

If not Alex I'd settle for Aaron Rodgers he's NFl ready now and wud start immediatly. Brayon Edwards wud compliment Chambers nicely but id rather have David Boston back as #3 WR. Boston at #3 is still better than Eddie Kennison and Jonnie Morton Chiefs starting recievers.

and you probably watched a lot of Utah's games this past season right?
Funny how nearly every team in the top 5 have him as there #1, but you see bust written all over him

The rams had 2 above avg wr's and no defense. They won a SB.
We have a defense.

And if Moss is anywhere near moss calibur we should take him.

Are you actually suggesting that the gimpy Bruce or the very young Holt were scary when they won that Super Bowl? Going into this season, we have MORE at WR than they figured to have when they won that SB.

BTW, that was SIX ago. I said FIVE.

Qb Ryan Leaf=Bust
RB Ron Dayne=Bust
WR David Terell= Bust
Every position has potential to be a bust anyways getting Braylon Edwards over Ronnie Brown wudnt make sense Chambers and Boston can get the job done we need a RB more than we need a WR

I think he'll end up like Tim Couch. He was blessed by playing in Urban Meyer's system that is designed to post sexy stats like Smith did. Sorry but stats convince me of nothing, it was a gimmicky offence and as I said before, if Smith was in any other draft class he wouldn't be rated this high. A lot of people believe that he would have been the 4th or 5th rated QB last year and that J.P. Losman may have even been picked ahead of him. J.P. LOSMAN!!! It's fine if you disagree but don't imply that I'm some kind of idiot.

Just Say YES to Smith!

Trade Bait!! And I also think he has great potential to be a great QB. Either way, he is a very good pick at #2 if available.

You're saying we have better than bruce and holt. Check some stats before you write.

Sorry I counted NE as 1 winner not 3.

I wish I could count NE as 1 instead of 3, too. That's just not reality.

GOING INTO 1999, Bruce looked almost like David Boston without the discipline and illegal supplements problems. He had that crazy 1995 campaign and a very good 1996 campaign, but he was down to 400 yards in 1998 ON A TERRIBLE RAMS TEAM (sound familiar there?). Holt was a freaking rookie.

Sure, you can look in hindsight and say how awesome they were. You'll be able to say that about Chambers and Booker in hindsight, too. :)

It was not my intentions to imply anything, don't get sensitive. I was just stating my opinion and the fact that Smith is very highly regarded. Most people have never really seen this kid play. It is easy to look back and say where he would have been drafted. He had a tremendous season and career for that matter at Utah. I don't think the MAC conference has stellar competiotion either. ( big ben, losman) The reason that every qb is drafted is based off of potential that is why there are busts and Manning's. Smith is 20 years old, extremely intelligent, mobile has prototypical size great attitude and has never had character issues. If he works hard most people agree that he will be successful. What I am saying is he is certainly deserving of the attention he is recieving. Most likely the niners will take him anyways.
