This was the game that Gase said he saw a lack of effort from some of the players. I didn't see it.

Remember this was the game coming off of the Monday Night win over NE. We had an impressive 2 game win streak having soundly beaten Denver before that. It was also our coldest game of the season up to that point with starting temperatures in the teens. Buffalo was 7-6 and we were 6-7.

I watched the whole game again. We got down 24-6 and I was looking to see who was half-assing it out there and I just didn't see anything.

We came back to make it 24-16 and recovered an onside kick before Cutler ended it with a pick. I know Gase has more camera angles than I do, but I was impressed no one I could see mailed it in.

Did anyone else watch it and see anything differently?

I was hoping someone would do that....I don't remember anything that stood out from that game to the point where Gase saw it as a defining moment or whatever. Thought maybe I was "misremembering it" and there must have been clear evidence or at least some noticeable examples of half assed play (I mean, worse than we usually play..lol) that stood out. Thanks for confirming it....btw...where did you watch whole game? Did you DVR it or was it replayed on NFL Network? (which I highly doubt since they always screw us and hardly ever replay Dolphins games).

I look at it this way, a "lack of effort" sounds better than "this team just isn't good enough and I need to make changes." This just sounds to me to be coach talk, not trying to insult any individual player or players.

Just to offer some clarity this is the direct quote from Gase on WQAM-AM, with Joe Rose...

"That game at Buffalo just seemed like a 20-hour game," said Gase. "I was just waiting for us to turn the corner and really get going and nothing was working for us. There was no swagger, no attitude, and it was disappointing to see. It wasn’t everybody. You turn on that tape, there are guys that stand out noticeably as far as their effort and their play that was extremely high, and they were giving everything they had. We just did not have enough guys doing that.“

FinsOnTop, the effort Gase speaks of starts well before the player steps onto the field. There's been a lot said about players giving everything they have, and for Gase it's obvious to him when a player is lost or just freelancing out there. To me and you, it's not at all obvious because everyone appears to be moving at full speed and with a sense of purpose. You can do the wrong thing at full speed but still look like a player out there.

During the 5 game losing streak the Dolphins Defense gave up an astounding 2100+ yards. I think those games should be looked at as to who, took a 5 week mid season vacation.

Swagger and attitude start before the game does. Attitude, in my prejudiced opinion, includes film study.

Wasn't it in that stretch Gase (or someone) noted 20-30% of D snaps resulted in missed assignments?

How can you tell by watching the game from your couch? Can you even see what the offensive and defensive lines hands are doing? Do you know if the OL was beaten because they gave 70% effort or because the opposing DL was truly better? How do you know?

Based on the results of the season I think we did a lot of "half-assing" especially during that Balt. embarrassment FORTY to ZERO!

Followed up by losing 7 of 9.

So did the Buffalo loss really stand out???

Hard to see that -- other than it was the last game of the crappy season.
