Maybe he just needs a change of scenery(although with history of this franchise, that is highly unlikely - but we can always hope)

Wide receiver Justin Hunter sees his opportunity with the Dolphins as a second chance. The 2013 second-round pick, generally viewed as a disappointment with Tennessee, was waived by the Titans on Saturday and claimed by Miami a day later.

"I kind of figured it was going to happen sometime or later," Hunter, 25, said of being cut. "But I tried not to think about it for the most part."
Hunter, who played for Dolphins wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson while with the Titans, had 68 receptions for 1,116 yards and eight touchdowns over his first three NFL seasons. A 6-foot-4 speedster, his best season was in 2014, when he had 28 receptions for 498 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games, including eight starts.
Dolphins head coach Adam Gase — who said Jefferson had "nothing but great this to say about" Hunter — views this as a rare chance to improve the wide receivers corps.
"We felt like he fit into what we were looking for," Gase said. "We've got one big guy [DeVante Parker], but it's always nice to have a couple guys with some good size. The more we can keep making our receiving corps — and all of our skill positions — kind of like a basketball team [with] a whole bunch of different type of body types [and] skill sets, that's what we're looking for.

He's got the measurables to be successful.

He struggles st route running which will hamper him for his career, but going deep and out jumping DBs doesn't require route running. Go deep son!

Let's see. His long last year was...29 yards...

Bet he has opposition coordinators all worried...

Or...they could be telling Parker that they need a receiver that can actually get on the field.

I always suspected that for Ryan Tannehill to consistently threaten deep, he's probably best matched with a big catch radius WR.

Tannehill is good at throwing low trajectory laser beams, but weak at high-arcing a deep ball into a fast bucket.

So it makes sense to bring Justin Hunter in (6'4", 4.4 speed, 40" vertical, former 2nd rd draft pick), and see if he clicks with Tannehill. Low risk, high reward.

Dolphins WR coach Shawn Jefferson had also coached Justin Hunter in Tennessee. So perhaps Shawn Jefferson, from working with both Tannehill & Justin Hunter, saw a potential fit.

So they send that message by bringing in a bust who is off the field almost as often, only not due to injury? Bet he's shaking in his orthopedic boots.

This. If Parker was lights out, this Hunter fellow would probably still be looking for a job. Parker would be well advised to understand that the reverse may also be true.

Do people really believe Justin Hunter is a threat to DVP? I'll take they guy who plays well when on the field, even if it's not as often, over the guy who can't do anything on the fiel, even if he's on all the time.

Parker is a threat to himself.

People reading too much into this. Lets hope he can contribute but we need Parker out there

Ozzy rules

just another player with good measurables and no production.

Rooting for the guy. But wr is one of those positions they either bite as a pup or they never do. He's had three years to show something .. And has shown nothing.

Well, Ted Ginn eventually found his place in the NFL....

Maybe in Miami, with so many other player taking roles as lead WR's, the pressure off of him to perform, they are able to get something out of him....

Again, this is the 5th WR...300 yards receiving would be a win.
