His interview at miamidolphins.com depicts a young man with high character and some intelligence. Living in Alabama, I saw quite a bit of him on the college level at UA. He was impressive in college and hopefully he will be just as impressive now that he is a Dolphin. Check out his statements about the conditioning program!:)

That sounds kinda funny. Like the rest of the team has "less than" some intelligence.:D

:D Since I have no way of measuring his intelligence without interviewing him in person, I wanted to qualify my statement just in case he turns out to not be very intelligent. I think in the recent past we have had some o-linemen who definitely had "less than some intelligence;" hence, it's nice to see a new guy who appears to possess the cognitive ability to do the job. ;)

I persnonally like how he delt with the JT question. HE basicly said; "JT is JT and, he can do what he wants to do."

That's a pro right there.

I think Smiley is the most underrated of our offseason acquisitions. Moving him b/t Long and Satele helps stabalize the inexperience on the left side of the line, likely enabling Long (especially) a smoother transition into the NFL. He may not be a flashy signing or a huge name, but I think he may be one of the keys to our offensive success.

I agree 100%.

I think it's refreshing for a change to listen to players who can speak plain english instead of using some slang garbage and talking like they can't put two words together.

Smiley is a ROADGRADER!!

No doubt about it bro! Smiley is a huge piece of the puzzle of our new, young and potential roadgraders. I am excited about this line and I think Smiley will bring a sense of nastiness these young studs need!

The one thing that struck me last year though was that the 49ers had the worst O-line in the league, even worst than Miami's. Now since we picked up Smiley I have ben a little nervous bout becasue he was apart of that 49ers line.

Guess we will have to wait till the start of the season before we know

An O-line is only as strong as ALL 5 players on it. Things like injuries can hinder chemistry and cohesion among an offensive line, leading to blow coverages. Sure, San Fran may have been really talented along the line, or maybe not, but unless all five guys are playing like a unit (not as individuals) the line will not function well. Smiley was a 2nd round pick I believe, so Im sure he has talent, and I doubt he could be responsible for SF's poor O-line play. I understand your nervousness, but I think Smiley will be A-OK here in Miami.

he was hurt most of last year.. the year before when he was healthy and played in all 16 games Frank gore had a breakout year.. Not saying he is the main reason for it but take it for what it is.. He is a run first type of linemen like most of the linemen we have.. I think we are gonna be running the ball around 65% of the time witch is perfect for what we have.

Agreed, the o-line as a unit IMO is more sensitive to lack of chemistry than any other part of a football team. If I'm the o-line coach these guys would become as close as brothers. These guys only work well if they operate like b-17 bombers with group integrity, meaning every one protects and compliments the other. If I'm the o-line coach I wanna know that my left tackle knows what the right guards responsibility on every play for example. Look at any past champion team that has repeated success and you'll see an interlocked o-line.
