I am just curious if any of these two are on our radar and would they fit what we are trying to do now with a new front office in?. I believe that now the Bengals have franchised Andrews..Smith will be an UFA and I think Jenkins can be had via a trade. Has anyone heard anything concerning these two and what are your thoughts?

Jenkins seems way to prone to get injured. Instead of him we could look at newly released former Falcon Rod Coleman, another one time dominant injury prone DL.

I do like Smith though :)

Smith is the one that intrigues me. He is young and has some good football ahead of him. If Jenkins is healthy..he is a monster.

Why pay big money for a DE when we have 3 or 4 already. Holliday and RWright are big DE's in a 3-4. Moses looks like a young stud to groom at DE. We also have JT as DE or OLB IF he stays and Roth - who I predict will get cut unless he wakes up fast. Minimum we have 3 DE's - 2 of which are young! Draft another and that is it at DE even though I predict we still trade down with Dallas and pick up one of their DE's (hopefully Canty).

We need to spend on the lines or on playmakers. We need guys who can control the line or get in the endzone. DT, OL, WR, and secondary come to mind. Parcells is the best at drafting secondary and LB's. That will be his focus - no doubt about that. One draft he brought in Milloy and Law to NE.

I'd absolutly love Kris Jenkins, but he is wayy to suceptable (sp?) to injury. Smith is ok. Wouldn't mind him, but he will want big cash.

I thought that too. But check it out, he hasn't missed a game in 2 years. He had back to back missed seasons essentially, but he has come back strong, and seems to be holding up fine.

Like I said Jenkins is a absolute BEAST when healthy.

Smith is 6' 4" 275. I think he could play DE for us in the 3-4

To play end in a true 3-4 an end would need to be heavier than that. An end in a 3-4 wouldtypically be undersized DT (290 lb) or a heavy DE. Even then the guy has to have the ability to effectively handle a double team. And must be able to tie up two blockers when necessary to allow the OLB to rush.

Exactly! Like I mentioned Holliday and Wright are perfect size. Moses could fit in as well. We have decent DE's IF we had a stud NT. #1 position of need on D is a dominating NT. You get that and everything else in the front 7 can fall in place. You don't have that and forget it - everyone else suffers.

i agree, we alreve some decent young linemen to develop, see how they do... plus we should draft one also. why spend cash on Justin Smith (i dont think Jenkins is worth it) when we need other spots to be filled from FA instead. offensive tackle, secondary, and WR would be my 3 spots to fill in FA first!!!!!

We might have to disagree on Holliday. But, that may be just based on opinion.
