For his age and weight. He runs like a bruiser.....Like an mike alstott kind of guy

he's a very fast runner

No, don't say that please (affectionaltely speaking-and board members, don't get perverted with that).

If the guy has power let that be a bonus, but let's find the guy who can avoid collisions all together and not the guy who wins them. Those guys fumble too much (which Alstott does), get hurt too often (which Alstott does), won't flip the field on somebody (Altsott isn't known for long runs and rightfully so) and have shorter careers (he hasn't made an impact in a while because of injuries).

I'm not trying to attack you. I know it might seem like it. Seeing a guy who can stomple a defender sure looks impressive as can be, but Barry Sanders is largely considered the best ever. I know there's no one with Barry's C.O.D. ability and inventive nature, but there's a handful of guys who are close. Barry was made by being able to elude and turn any play into a footrace. That's the kind of back I want.

Quick lesson; if a guy's a better athlete than you, you'll sink his hips and play defensive. That's to mean the defender will let the ball carrier get to you. If you got reckless and miss the ball carrier turns it into a footrace. Caught or not, he's already made a big play. That's why you take the best position and make sure you get a shot on him, but he gets ground for it. Those are hidden yards nobody talks about. That's FREE YARDS just for being a better athlete. If a guy's willing to measure up a defender you'll get reckless and try to knock the snot out of him. Even if he wins, he'll have to regather and restart. It's just a series of collisions until he's tackled. That leads to all the bad stuff.

Quick little test, check the number of fumbles for the little elusive guys, like Warrick Dunn. See how often he fumbles as opposed to TJ Duckett. Contact sport or not, football's still won with athleticism. Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Deion Sanders, Barry Sander etc. etc. Get the best athlete you can.

Barry Sanders put up some good yards, but he was a drive killer!! Drives are what it is all about in the nfl, Consistency, moving the chains.....Barry would be minus yards on 10 plays and then bust a 50 yarder, His YPC is deceptive. I would rather have a guy who gets a legit 4-5 yards per carry that keeps drives going. Drives win football games, not 3 big runs that give you 150 yards. Give me Emmit anyday.

Good memory :D . Ok, bad example. Barry was a headache around the goal line. How often did he come out around the end zone?? Rhetorical-don't answer.

But, you're awfully mistaken if you think drives win in the NFL though. Teams that can consistently convert on 3rd down are too few and far between. You might be thinkin' of the Pats, but not everybody's them. Somewhere during the drive that ended in a QB sneak from an inch a way I'm almost willin' to bet my unborn child that somewhere along the way a play was made that drastically changed field position. Find a collection of box scores with a drive summery and prove it to yourself. I won't stand here and get pious either. I'll go lookin' too, but my eyes (at BW3 every Sunday checkin' out whatever game they feed me with almost the same interest as if my team were playin') say that big plays means points. Also, don't just use the Fins, Wanny was an unmentionable joke. I think I could give him a lecture about formation strength vs. imbalance and presnap indicators. Ya, that smacks of Martz and Shannahan, but hey, it works darnit :D (although the protections used by Martz are really too far gone for me and Shanny's a little too conservative-although his use of motion and route combinations are TO DIE FOR. I'm more conventional than either).

the point of this thread is to celebrate a great undrafted pick-up by saban, i mean please look at that run one more time

Trust me you guys. I may be a wvu "homer". But i know what kay jay can do after watching every game he played from his past season.....

He is the real deal..and for avon coeburn. He was a very good runner. and i dont see why he isint playning somewheres. WVU has had many great runners starting out with "famous" amos zeroe, then having avon coeburn. qunicy wilson. and kay jay harris. This year wvu got the #1 hs. running back in the country, from babalyon ny, Jason Gwaltney. It looks like the tradition of having good rb's at wvu will continue! Go Mountaineers!
