1. Detroit - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame - Time to start anew in Detroit. Mike Martz should love this move. If he's still around, that is.
2. Oakland - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech - Doesn't look like Jerry Porter or Randy Moss will be around much longer. At least one of them is gone. They need more youth and depth at WR regardless. BPA, too.
3. Tampa Bay - Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin - The beloved Bucs probably have more pressing needs this offseason than anyone. The right side of their line looks promising, but the left side needs a lot of work. Thomas is the BPA here, too.
4. Arizona - Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson - Arizona can't get pressure on the opposing QB. That's a problem. Adams is an easy pick.
5. Houston - JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU - They seem pretty steamed about passing on Vince Young. David Carr probably won't be around much longer. Russell has a lot of potential and could wind up doing pretty good with the right coaching.
6. Cleveland - Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma - Cleveland appears set for the future at QB, WR and TE. They need help on o-line, but they also need a playmaker at RB. Their offense will be pretty scary-looking next year with Peterson...
7. Washington - Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh - Carlos Rogers has made some progress, but they need a good CB opposite of him. Right now there's not much depth at all at CB. Revis will give the Redskins one of the best young CB duos in the league.
8. St. Louis - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida - St. Louis has a defense that makes a lot of plays but gives up yards. They need a guy to help out in the secondary with both. Meet The Eraser. :D
9. Minnesota - Ted Ginn, Jr, WR, Ohio State - Troy Williamson hasn't really done much so far. But it'd be nice to have some more help to get him open. Travis Taylor and Marcus Robinson are just really old and they need more youth.
10. San Francisco - LaRon Landry, S, LSU - San Fran looks really good and promising on offense, but their defense needs a lot of help--everywhere. Let's start with the secondary, which needs a good strong leader and playmaker.
11. Carolina - Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii - Carolina is a very disappointing team loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. Their biggest pitfall seems to be at QB, where Jake Delhomme is having a real disappointing year. Lots of people seem to really like Colt Brennan, so here we go.
12. Green Bay - Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal - Whether Favre stays or not, the Packers need a legitimate playmaker at runningback if they want to keep winning. Ahman Green isn't the same player he once was.
13. Miami - Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona - We have one of the best defenses in the league, but our main weakness (besides age) is at CB. Will Allen is solid, and nothing more. Andre Goodman has been a pleasant surprise. Still, I think if we go BPA, we'll take Cason, who has playmaking and shutdown ability. This would give us really great depth at CB, too.
14. Atlanta - Michael Griffin, S, Texas - Atlanta's front 7 is good, but their secondary is sucky. Their safeties need help.
15. Kansas City - Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee - It's been a while since Kansas City drafted a really good WR. It's about time! Meachem compares to someone like Javon Walker; good size, good speed, good hands...everything you really want in a receiver.
16. Pittsburgh - LaMarr Woodley, DE/OLB, Michigan - Somewhat of a disappointing season for the champs, but they're picking up the pace lately. Woodley would be a great addition to any defense, especially a 3-4.
17. New York Giants - Alan Branch, DT, Michigan - Good bookends with Strahan and Umeniyora (and eventually Kiwanuka), but they need more help in the middle.
18. Buffalo - Leon Hall, CB, Michigan - Is Nate Clements going to be around next year? He'll hit free agency most likely and command a huge contract from someone. If Buffalo can't resign him, they'll need a replacement.
19. Tennessee - Daymeion Hughes, CB, Cal - Pacman Jones is starting to really look good, but Reynaldo Hill isn't good.
20. New England (from Seattle) - Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC - New England doesn't really have ANY good receivers right now. Chad Jackson will be good, but he's still green. Jarrett is a nice value pick. A good possession receiver, which is what New England has always been successful with.
21. New York Jets - Fred Bennett, CB, South Carolina - Justin Miller looks pretty solid, but they need more depth and talent at CB.
22. Philadelphia - Justin Blalock, G, Texas - They might wanna try playing Blalock at guard for a while before moving him over to tackle at some point.
23. Denver - Quinten Moses, DE, Georgia - All those guys from Cleveland are starting to wear their welcome out a tad. They're not getting any younger and none of them are really playmakers. Moses had a disappointing season, but there's no doubt how talented he is.
24. Jacksonville - Anthony Spencer, OLB, Purdue - Jax needs help in a few areas on defense, despite how well they've played (at times). Nick Griesen is solid, but not a great starter.
25. Cincinnati - Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State - Does anyone need a TE more than Cincinnati?
26. Dallas - Joe Staley, T, Central Michigan - Some people tend to forget how woeful the Cowboys' line was earlier in the year. Still the same line people. They need youth and talent.
27. New Orleans - Quinn Pitc0ck, DT, Ohio State - Charles Grant and Will Smith are REALLY good on the outside, but who's on the inside of the d-line? No one, that's who.
28. New England - Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno State - The Patriots need a lot of help in the secondary (like every year), and McCauley is very talented and should blossom under Belichick's watch. Also he's a Pat Hill guy, so the connection is easy to make.
29. Baltimore - Earl Everett, LB, Florida - Adalius Thomas could be gone to free agency. Everett fills the gap at SLB nicely. Another Gator. :)
30. Indianapolis - Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska - Some attention to take away from Dwight Freeney would be just lovely. That is, assuming they can resign Freeney. If not, well, Carriker makes a lovely replacement.
31. Chicago - Levi Brown, T, Penn State - Not too many needs on this team. Might as well get some depth and youth at tackle. John Tait and Fred Miller have 19 years experience between them.
32. San Diego - Steve Smith, WR, USC - A legitimate WR threat is what San Diego needs most on offense. Imagine how scary they can be if Smith pans out....

Good stuff Kat. I don't think Branch falls to 17 unless people are stuck on his Ohio State performance. Willis is a top 20 pick, as is Levi Brown. I'm not sure Woodley is, as much as people love him, worthy of the 16th spot. Lastly, I'll be surprised if we only see Peterson and Lynch in the first round. Irons has to be somewhere in there near the bottom.

Doesn't Colt Brennan play at Texas? Or is that Colt McCoy? I get my Colt's confused easily.

Brennan plays for Hawai'i.

Colt McCoy plays for Texas.

I honestly believe that Troy Smith will be the number 2 quarterback taken. I also believe that he will be taken in Round 1. I would love to draft him and he could ride the bench for a year behind Culpepper. Now that would be depth at QB. To me that pick is a difference maker for this franchise. We could then look to the future and feel better.

I read an article that was written by an NFL scout that said he would not take any of the senior linebackers in the first round, so i think this mock is alright.

I'd be satisifed with Cason. We need secondary players badly. Though, if Reggie Nelson falls to us, I hope we snap him up immediately. I know we already drafted Jason Allen, but we can move him to CB....Reggie is a game-changer at FS and is too good a playmaker to pass up, IMO (not just saying that because he's a gator, this guy is flat-out good!).

Good mock overall, but I just dont think Peterson will go that high....if the Browns go with a RB, it'll be Lynch I think.

nither colt or russel will go in the first round

If Lamar Woodley is available when we pick that's my pick. We need a QB in Day 1 of the draft also. I do like the picking the Center Mozes.

I seriously disagree with most of this mock draft, on the basis of your reasoning for why teams would take the players you believe they're going for. For example, Cleveland--set at the QB position? Come on, Charlie Frye isn't doing anything.

And the Jets are in the market for a good RB. I'd say they're going to trade up--with whatever it takes--to get Marshawn Lynch.

This draft is going to see a lot of position-shifting. There's too much talent for teams to not make pushes to get someone they really want.
