I was always against the signing of Albert due to injury history, but when healthy he has consistently played well. He will be little over $10m against cap next year, which is fair price for what he is IMO and we don't lose over $3m in dead cap space.

If we can hit on a RG, someone like Lamp or Bolles (Gase always seems to have liked converted tackles to gaurd), with a bit of injury luck, we could have a very good OL. When you consider Pff had Jay Ajayi making 3.4 ypa after contact, it is not unrealistic to think we could have an offensive juggernaut.

This paired with an improved D, I think we could definitely build into a perennial playoff team

I think he only seemed to like converted tackles because that's what he was given. I hope he starts bringing in some true guards. I also hope we keep Albert and draft a guard early. Defense doenst matter as much if we can consostently run the ball and protect tannehill. We are one good guard away from having our offense pretty much complete. Finish it. Then go all D.

Tackling the O-line is key to finally having the offense playing well, but I would not say getting that Guard or Guards (If Albert leaves) will make the Offense complete, we still do need a quality TE, if this happens, Miami might be a team to watch next year...If they also hit on a least, a LB they can count on.

How early is early?

Round 1 should be defense or TE if Howard slips

That first pic is going to be a linebacker or a tight end.

He's only worth it because our guard situation blows. I don't think he's a $10 million per year tackle considering he is not likely to play 16 games, the fact we have Tunsil waiting in the wings, and the strain that adjustment puts on the rest of the line when it's time to do the Albert shuffle.

If we had another starting quality guard option in house he'd probably be cut.

First of all you have to identify if his declining play over the last part of the season is a trend or purely due to the wrist injury. Secondly, you would be hard pressed to maintain TWO injury prone players on the same line making $10M each. Especially when one is 33 years old.

Either way this front office has to figure out how to draft a quality offensive linemen who doesn't magically fall in their lap like Laremy Tunsil. They have to find them in the 3rd and 4th rounds like NE and a lot of other teams manage to do.

You can either pay Albert 10M and hope he plays 12 games or you can use some of that 55M in cap space on a true guard.

LT Tunsil
LG Andrew Norwell
C Pouncey
RG ????
RT James

There are also other 2nd and 3rd tier priced, FA interior linemen available who played better than Bushrod, Urbik and Steen. We can upgrade there one way or the other.

unfortunately you can't keep everybody especially if production is down, simply a matter of biz. With our D playing as badly as it has last season it must be a priority. Same for the line but if we pay a young stud guard and draft another the oft injured players should be history or get paid like one.

If we can consistently run the ball, I think our D will improve hand in hand. If we can get a Zach Martin type at OG, I think Ajayi will be a star next year

If the front office can sign two FA middle to upper OG than B.A. needs to rethink his options cause the front office already rethought theirs.

Probably 3rd or 4th..depending what compensation we get for Vernon...we're not the Pats, so we will probably get a 5th. :err:

If you can sign a young, reliably healthy, above average guard in free agency for $7m/year this is a no brainer. You thank BA for his services and you cut him. Then you do the same with Pouncey next year when his dead money drops from $5m to $2m.

Why? Albert net will only be $7.3m and we will still need another OG

Nope.

* Cut Albert and use that money to sign a FA guard.

* Draft a backup center who can play center and guard.

* Draft another guard.
