Keep an eye out for Eddie Moore against the Bucs

My disappointment with Eddie has never stemmed too much from the injuries. That lisfranc injury is real tough one to come back from, a career-ender. And last year I think he took an injury on the same wet slippery dirt infield that Ed Perry and a few others got injured on.

My disappointment in him stems from his play when he has been healthy. I know some of you guys have given him good reviews when he's on the field but he just never made the plays that a 2nd round pick linebacker should be making. I know there's plenty of excuses but sometimes I just feel like you can stuff your sorries in a sack as far as football production goes; you either produce or you don't. I mean if you think about Moore's draft standing, I know many will say we reached for him, but he was probably taken at a discount due to his injury history in college, so when he actually gets on the field the guy should be playing like a first round linebacker...it's just that he suffers third round injuries.

Look at a similar situation with Channing Crowder. We got Crowder in the 3rd round because he was a 1st round linebacker talent with a 5th round injury history. Knock on wood we haven't had to deal yet with his injury problems, but right now as he's on the field and playing injury-free we can clearly see the guy's first round ability. All I'm saying is that with Eddie Moore, I never saw that.

Nice anaylsis CK. I agree with you for the most part however I think that taking Moore in the 2nd round was WAY to early. From watching Moore closley in college and the pros, it seems that he takes to many steps getting to the acion, which was a much bigger problem in college. It also seems to me that he has too many tackes broken. Either way I think Moore could have still been there in the 4th or even 5th but we took him in the 2nd. As far as OLBs went that year I would have ranked him about 15th or so. There we some really good LBs availble before we took Moore including, Antwan Peek, Chaun Thompson, Pisa Tinomaosua (sp), Lance Briggs, and Robert Mathis. Either way I still dont think Moore has 1st round talent I would give him in the range of 3-5th round talent, dont see him starting here, but I am pulling for him either way.

I believe he missed his share of time in college with injuries. IMHO the reason most players will not play through the injuries in the pro's is simply that they are already getting paid. In college, they still have to prove they can play at the next level. In the pro's, the pay check will be deposited on time no matter what.

from what I read he missed one game. Which hurt his draft status a lot since he could not go through any combines because he played through injuries.

Injury proness is weird to me. I understand if they are not hard workers and don't take care of themselves that they should get injured a lot. However that is pretty much not the case anymore in today's NFL. I just don't understand why some players are more injury proned then another. A lot of times it is bad luck and that bad luck injury is so bad it hurts their entire career. With Eddie Moore his injuries have been different, so what is this guy doing wrong?

When playing I have been impressed with his play. He was very good at not letting plays bounce outside and was excellent in coverage. There was a huge drop off in play between him and Brandon.

Then again, I LOVE speed. one of the reasons I have always been high on Y. Bell.
