We need another special teams coach. This guy is horrible.
Or we need the special players that fit into the Dolphins way,
What !:shakeno:

Speaking of special teams, whatever happened to the Kickers coach??? The coach in the wheelchair? Seemed like Mare was kicking well with him as coach.

Doug Blevins, I think he had some sort of conflict of interest. He was not allowed to work with pro and NCAA prospects. At least that is what I recall.

get the miami hurricanes special teams coach ....... he did produce the great Devin " catch me if u can" Hester.

NOT So Special Teams...

YEARS and YEARS since they have done any-thing "Special".....

I think he is with the Cowboys.

Keith Armstrong was a Wanny buddy - remember he got rid of Westhof(sp?) for his buddy Keith. That worked out real well huh? I can't remember the last time our ST's was a threat to break a return.

Oh how quckly some forget that last year we were outstanding on special teams and Armstrong was the flavor of the week.

You mean like leading the leage in net punt averge? Having one of the best kickoff coverage units in the league? Wes being one of the top punt returners in the game? Because we did all that just last year.

As I sit watching Va Tech & reading this thread, I had a interesting thought.

Could Saban lure Frank Beamer to the pros to be ST coach w/ the promise of being D Co-ord if/when Capers moves on.

Va Tech has always great special teams & D... I don't know how Marcus V would react(LOL), but, am willing to take a chance.

For who? Our coverage teams have always been great - WAY before he got here. Our return teams have not been good and he has not changed that. He has never been special - keeping Wes at KO return is one of the most ridiculous things to watch. Say what you want but he cannot return kickoffs - he is no threat to break it. If he gets across the 25 it's rare.

We have had one of the top coverage units in football for quite awhile. That is not a direct reflection on anything Keith brought here. Donte had some lucky bounces last year - what has happened this year. He has had some bad kicks. Your first 2 points are due to coverage - BTW we keep guys active on Sunday just for ST coverage. As for punt returns - Wes is good because he is pretty smart and pretty sure handed. He comes up on the ball and gets positive yards most of the time. I see you didn't mention KO returns - why? Because we are close to the bottom?

Say what you will, last year we turned over a tone of our roster and still fielded an outstanding special teams unit. To me some of that credit has to go to Armstrong and last year people were giving him plenty of it.

I didn't mention kick returns because I was responding to some one who said we haven't been "special on special teams for years and years" Last year we may not have great in the kick return game but to paint us as a team that hasn't done anything on special teams for years on end is just plain wrong. We were very, very good in that area last year and even generated sever turnovers with our special teams units, both on punt and kickoff coverages.

and then ofcourse theres that huge threat ,that with wes' super speed, and and incredible bursts of pure adrenal laden, explosivness we might just break one at any minute.:sidelol:

You nailed it, a couple bad games and of course everyone here is ready to burn down the barn. Most impatient and unforgiving fans in the country. Bad thread IMO, get 1 star. :fire:

Doug Blevins from Abingdon, VA.
He held kicking camps in the offseason that were in direct conflict with Dolphins interests.
After being fired by Wannstedt he continued to hold camps, and one of his prize students was no other than Adam Vinatieri.

I don't think Mare has been the same since Blevins was canned.

Kinda ironic though...one of the best kicking coaches...maybe THE best, is a guy that will never actually be able to kick a football.
