Keith Sims on the O-Line

This "Pouncey is a left guard" stuff reminds me of the "Long is a right tackle" stuff. Let's see what happens on the field first.

Except it was apparent to anyone watching last year that Pouncey isn't a center and was a much better prospect at guard. Most top center prospects don't need to "iron out their snapping issues".

Recall Incognito missing on his block and Henne spraining his knee last season?

Left guard is a problem, but your right, the real problem is the gaping wound known as right guard and tackle.
Which is why putting Pouncey at LG and Incognito at C/RG would be the best fit. Center is preferable for Incognito because he won't have to move in space as much.

Zone blocking centers are asked to move to the second level quite often

I don't think that's true at all, a Center is way more likely to be uncovered on any given play and is in the middle of the blocking scheme.

When it comes to run blocking Pouncey is playing like a 4th or 5th round draft pick right now.I've been a Dolfan since the late 70's and as far as run blocking he's been the worst center i have seen in the preseason in over 20 years on a Dolphins team.

If he doesn't start to bend it doesn't matter where you put him he'll be out of the nfl in a few years.

Why would that even be remotely considered a bad thing? It's not as if there is a value disparity between the two positions.

Didn't he stay in school for another year and make the move to center specifically so he would be picked higher in the draft as a center?

+1 to that

Pouncey is a rookie, he's not going to be perfect the first game.

It was always my understanding that center was definitely the more valued position, as they are "the qb of the line," responsible for calling protections, etc. and that are responsible to reliably snap the ball, then take on the giant NT 3 inches from their face.

Well I started a thread on this same subject just yesterday and it would be real interesting to be a fly in the room when our coaches are discussing the setup of our OL and why they think they do.
I stated much ealier for the OLine to be the issue it is with all the bodies we have been throwing at it the past 3 plus years it comes down to the coaching IMO. Anyone can have a decent line of first round picks and not have to be a great coach currently we have 3 1st rounder on ours.
Common denominator is the coaching I am telling you or the OL coach. Hope he surprises most of us with his superior knowledge this season.
