I think we have offered a contract and he is deciding between us and a few other teams. We should hear something no later then Tuesday.

If there were updates, don't you think you would see them within seconds after they hit the newswires?

I'd love for us to land this guy and Ty Law.

Thanks Nub! Let's hope this happens, this would be a huge move in my book! Let's go Nick!

You know guys.... The only way I possibly see Law coming here is if he all of the sudden decides that he wants to do the EXACT opposite of what he did in New England, and thats take a small contract to be part of a great organization. I think that a lot of players respect Saban, and want to play here. But a discount from Ty so that he could come here?

I think the reason he hasn't been signed after speaking with teams is because he is asking a lot and coming off an injury. There is no way in heck we will pay him what he wants -- unless he wants to make a DEAL and get some kind of incentive laden contract which I doubt his agents would let happen.

Sorry to get off track but.... Kingnate

That is one of the greatest sigs I have ever seen. I laughed so hard when I saw that:)

Also that chick has a very flexible stomach in your avatar

I thought I read he was going to make a decision Thursday or Friday -- either way, I think we're the front runners.

Hey guys, I'm new to the site as I'm from the UK. I'd love to see Ty Law and Daniels as our starting corners with Madison moved to free safety, any thoughts?

Welcome to Fin Heaven. If you are as good a member as are the other UK posters, you will be very welcome here.

I really don't believe that Law will get a contract wtih Miami because of his salary demands. The Miami Herald reports that Law's agent is saying that Law expects to be paid like a pro bowl CB. Given that his future is uncertain following his injury, I don't see Saban giving up a huge pay check and putting us back in the same cap situation we were in with Surtain.

Herald Article

To quote part of the article;

Law, 31, visited the Dolphins on Wednesday but wants a contract that pays him in the ballpark of the NFL's better cornerbacks, and he is not thinking about signing a one-year deal.

aw missed the last nine games of the 2004 regular season -- and all of the playoffs and Super Bowl -- because of a broken left foot. It is a serious injury for a cornerback because the position puts stress on the feet during backpedaling, acceleration and change of direction.

The Patriots released Law on Feb. 25 with a year left on his deal. It would have cost the Patriots $12.5 million on their salary cap to keep him.

Poston's stance is that none of that apparently matters in upcoming negotiations.

Well, Madison has never played safety as far as I know and he's a pretty darn good CB...also, you have to remember that Daniels played both Safety and CB in College under Saban's system. I would think it would be a little more strategic to move Daniels to safety instead of Madison under the scenario.

If we sign Law at the price he is asking after trading Surtain that would piss alot of fans off. In that case we could have keep a healthy younger surtain.

Traylor will be a force for us this year if we sign him. The question is what do we do with Zgonina if we do sign Traylor?
