while he lit us up when we played buffalo a couple years ago minnesota probly released him so they could pick up cleo lemon..maybe a few years ago i would say great sign him up even as a back up but now im not real thrilled about him. he would bring vet leadership but there is a guy or two we could do better getting. maybe as a third guy i could live with it.

No thanks to Carr. I dont even think he is good enough to be a backup anymore.

I like Volek but he will be more expensive and probably wants/deserves a shot to start

L2G you said Carr!! :sidelol: My friend you know alot of stuff and usually have some good info and defenately know how to create and disect solid arguments, but you are kinda lost when it comes to knowing what a QB is in the NFL. Carr Simms blows too btw, but Carr is laughable.

On a side note, Holcombe, Pennington, or Volek, would all start over Beck, not back him up. They might be back ups if we take Matt Ryan though. :wink:

Simms is still young and coachable and Carr is servicable and more attractive than Lemon, McCown, etc. I think in the right system and with the right supporting cast he can be a decent option.

Without taking this thread offtopic, my thought process for finding a QB via FA is to look for a guy that will come relatively cheap and someone who will be backup/competition for Beck (who will get every chance to be the starter). I'm not necessarily looking for someone who will come in and be our #1. Our offense is going to be heavily run oriented and our QB just needs to be consistent, not a guy who will take over a game and throw for 400 yards.

The only reason I have Penny on the list is because of the Parcells connection, but if he's released I think he'll be looking for a starting gig and that would rule us out IMO.
