Inside linebacker Kelvin Smith, a former Syracuse standout who was selected in the seventh round last season, suffered what Sparano described as a "pretty serious knee injury," covering a punt in the fourth quarter.

"We're still waiting for a little bit more information, but it's not good," Sparano said.

If Smith tore a knee ligament it's likely he'll be put on the Dolphins injured reserve. Smith, who spent most of last season on the Dolphins practice squad, could also receive an injury settlement and be waived, opening up a roster spot for another player on the team's 80-man training camp roster.

Article also mentions that Charlie Anderson is "day to day" with a hamstring injury and that Joey Porter was held out of the game because he hurt his back late last week.

Lets just hope and pray that Porter and Anderson will be good to go once the season starts.

Sucks, but doesn't mean a thing as far as the season goes. Pretty lucky with the injuries so far and hope it continues.

I know he might have a serious injury but atleast it wasn't a starter that was out. He would have made a special teams presence and i wish him a speedy recovery.

Edmond Miles was likely going to take that linebacker spot anyway. But I hope he can heal and compete next year.

That sucks. Stash him on IR, and get him healthy for next year.
he's a 7th rounder who isn't going anywhere, give him a small settlement and move on. Investing more time for the sake of it is going to get us nowhere.

Dont want to see anyone get hurt for their sake, but no big loss. Andersen was the biggie, and its good news to see he'll be ok. The MOST Smith was this year was a back end reserve LB and maybe ST. Nothing that cant be filled when teams dop players..... Now if that was Andersen, a starter projected, would have beena tough start

He has been officially placed on the Waived/Injured list now, and a warm body was signed to get beat up for the next two weeks.
