I know the guy messed up with the facemask penalty today. However, with so many negative aspects to this team, how about our rookie 3rd round draft choice notching his second sack in his second game. From what I understand of the 3-4 defense, not many of those DE's rack up many sacks due to their responsibility of occupying linemen to allow the linebackers free roam. Coming out of a small school, I didn't know what to really expect from Kendall with such limited exposure, and with a lot of talent still on the board I admit I wasn't sure if he was the best pick, but this regime took a leap of faith with him and so far looks like he is paying dividends. Yeah, again, he's a rookie and will make mistakes like one (including today's penalty) but I am really impressed with what he's show so far, and hope he continues to be a force up front for this defense. Did anyone who watched the game today (and/or last week) have any other opinions to add?

Langford is going to turn out to be a BEAST. He is coming a long very well, and I'm very happy we traded down to get him rather than take Kevin Smith.

Yeah, Langford is our eventual replacement for Vonnie Holiday, who still has a few more good years. DE is definitely not an area we need to focus on this offseason. We need to fix our WR corps and add a big CB to that secondary. Gosh, didn't BP see that JAGS game last season? Nuff said. Dejavu today...

Agreed. Langford, among others, makes me feel good about the Dline in coming years. With the way the NFL is changing and offenses continue to evolve, we're seeing more big, physical receivers with freakish speed coming into the league. I really like a guy like Will Allen and think he does a hell of a job out there, but even he can't compete as much with a big WR like Fitzgerald. We need a bigtime, tall, fast physical specimen at corner (which I know are hard to come by, but with another top 10, maybe even top 5, pick coming our way we should have plenty opportunity to draft one).

I love him, a couple more years and he should be a beast

Langford still gets manhandled a few too many times when teams run right at him. He also needs to improve his pass rush moves
The kid is still learning and look how well he's playing. He's only going to get better. When that happens you see him manhandled at all.

Right now, Kendall Langford has shown the most star potential on the entire D. He will most certainly be a good one.

This is actually what I was thinking during the game. It is sad when a rookie 3rd round pick playing at the most un-glorified position in a 3-4 defense shows the greatest chance of becoming this teams defensive superstar.

I thought Starks got the sack. Langford had one tackle and he's considered the bright spot on the D? It will be a long, long, season.

He is a good player and will be a baller in no time...too bad though, in theory he did get a sack, but unfortunately we wont be seeing it in the stat book since it didnt count

between his mouth, and his play (and last, his salary compared to those two)...Vonnie Holliday will be looking for work come February 10, 2009.

Both Starks and Langford had a sack yesterday. Langford got Warner as the Cardinals were about a yard or two away from scoring.

I think he has been a pleasant surprise for the fact the he comes out of Hampton and was a third round pick. I really like him and he seems to have potential to be a star. Lets hope he can continue to improve.

5 tackles and 2 sacks in his first two NFL games is a pretty good start.
