Charting is becoming my thing - for whatever reason, I love it. So I started charting wide outs, starting with the Dolphins. Kenny Stills is up first. I went through each catch he had and tallied the following:

Pre-snap alignment (right or left - field or boundary)
Split (slot, plus, minus, nasty)
Grouping (bunch, stacked, trips)

Catch Point (L, M, R)
Route ran
Air Yards
Broken Tackles
YAC
First Downs
TDs

Inside is a fantastic graphic done by the design guy at locked on. I sent him a picture of a hand-drawn diagram did of every route Stills ran on receptions. I used the slow-mo feature on GamePass to get it right. Using landmarks and the hash marks, I was pretty easily able to discern his exact path on every single catch.

Anyway, if you're into this kind of thing, there is TONS of data inside. Tomorrow I'll have Jakeem Grant and Leonte Carroo, then Devante Parker and Jarvis Landry later in the week. ENJOY!

For Kenny Stills, there was an extreme discrepancy between press and off-coverage (or at least what he excelled against). 84.5% of his catches came against off coverage with the other 15.5% coming against press at the line of scrimmage.

go 3 X 1 splits but do what the Houston Texans do with deandre Hopkins as the iso to get him good looks with devantae parker and you'll do more than with any tight end we could add any time soon

Thanks for doing this OP. I haven't had the time to read all of it in detail but by casually glancing through sections, i can see that you've put a lot of work into it.

Devante Parker’s piece is up. I’ll have a comprehensive write up on the Dolphins WR’s as a whole soon. Gotta finish up Landry.

At this point in his career Parker is turning out to be the ultimate tease. I'm weary of players that need so much to be perfect for them to dominate. Especially players that are suppose to be #1 receiving threats. I'll have to dig through what you wrote to get a better idea of what the deal is with Parker. I'm not sure if it's a lack of a refined tact to his game(route running, setting up his opponent) to generate enough separation and execute or the Dolphins just overestimated his physical talents.

Ultimately, I get the impression next season even with Tannehill he will be more or less the same. He just seems like one of those players that will either never live up to his talents or he won't get their until he's played for a few teams and mature a lot later in his career.

Shame! I doubt the Dolphins will ever benefit from his near max potential.
