Miami Dolphins coaches and personnel staff will travel to Indianapolis Monday for the start of the annual NFL Scouting Combine that runs Tuesday through March 6. And while the stated mission of the trip is to meet and get the measure of hundreds of college players for the coming draft, the organization’s priority mission may be to try to preserve their relationship with pending free agent Kenny Stills.

It will not be an easy assignment.

According to sources familiar with the situation, the Dolphins this week hope to make a strong pitch to the wide receiver’s representation in hopes of getting feedback that will suggest Stills will be re-signing with the team.
But if this assignment is viewed through the prism of a regular season game, the looming work with Stills has the Dolphins in the fourth quarter because free agency begins March 9. And, sources say, Miami seems to be trailing.
That’s because, multiple NFL sources agree, Stills is more likely to leave via free agency than stay in Miami.

The Stills camp is already aware of the receiver’s potential value in free agency. And the market is said to already be in the $12-million-a-year range, per sources.

....he gone :(

Yep. I also heard that whatever contract you expect a player to get this year.....multiply that number by 30%....maybe more.

Dolphins should probably abandon the push to re-sign Stills and focus on re-signing Landry. now.

What a shame, would've been great to keep Kenny here. He is so important to this offense and will be very hard to replace.

You can't just plug any speed guy in his role and expect the same results. Look at how Mike Wallace turned out. Kenny & Ryan are in sync. Look no further than this play..

Excellent opportunity to develop Caroo if he leaves. Dolphins might as well get use out of a guy that they gave up a bunch of picks for. That money should be going Landry's way. They absolutely cannot let Landry hit free agency.

Develop Carroo into what?

Who is our deep threat?

If we lose those touchdowns the clowns in the front office have no hope of replacing them. I highly doubt rawhawn scott (or his backup Carroo) will step up either

If Stills walks a huge chunk our our offensive production walks out the door alongside him

We wasted so much money finding a deep threat (especially on wallace) we now have one who works really well in the system and with our qb and we are about to let him get away.

What about Vincent Jackson on a 1 year rental? I know he is old but he is kinda that same type of receiver in regards to deep threat.

Oh please. The 5th wr is not suddenly going to lead the team in tds.

I am guessing one of our comp picks in the 5th round will be. It does stink that he will be gone but I don't know that we try and replace him persay. With more 2 tight end sets with Thomas on the field, it will be more of 2 WR sets on the field. I envision a lot of Landry, Parker, Thomas, and Sims next year.
