Fueling his high yards after contact numbers, Drake was contacted within two yards of the line of scrimmage on 18 of his 23 runs (78.3 percent). Also, he had 36 rushing yards ripped away from his box score production due to three holding penalties at the hands of the Dolphins’ offensive line, and on all three of the runs, he was contacted either at or behind the line of scrimmage.

Drake’s stunning performance marked the start of a steady ascent, as he earned 75.0-plus overall game grades in three of his next four games, en route to a career-high 80.9 overall season grade (tied for 17th among qualifying running backs). Shockingly enough, his bludgeoning of the Broncos was also the first game in his NFL career that he earned 10 or more carries.

This article is another indicator (along with the NFL.com article about Drake being among the most elusive backs in the NFL) that Kenyan Drake will remain a steady part of Miami's offense.

It’s really too bad we split snaps with him and Williams as long as we did...curious to see what he can do with a full season.

IMO his durability is still a concern. But he should absolutely get 20 touches a game.

I have to admit, I was one of the naysayers who thought he couldn't carry the load as a feature back - I thought he was just too small to run between the tackles consistently. And after his first game as a starter, where he ran well but coughed it up at a crucial time in the game, I thought I was even more right. But I was wrong - he was a great dual threat, he blocked well, and he stayed healthy too. My hats off to him for proving this doubter wrong.

It is just too bad. We had Marino for 15 years with no running back, and we’ve had running backs for 15 years with no quarterback.

I would have loved to see defenses worrying about Duper and Clayton down field and then have to adjust to adump off pass from Marino to Reggie Bush. Second and 10 would be no problem because you know Bush could convert that or at least turn it into 3rd and short.

Williams only had 4 games with 5 or more carries, all 4 games coming after Ajayi was traded. During the 4 games he had 149 yards on 34 carries, so 8.5 carries per game and 37 yards. What ever the Dolphins do at running back I would suspect whomever they team with Drake will at least 8 carries per game too.

It'll be nice to see him start every game but they will be watching his carries for sure. Some back are better with more carries and some are better with a little less. 20 sounds about right for him with a few passes

Ozzy rules!!

Marino's first season, The Dolphins had over 2000 rushing yards
or over 600 more rushing yards than we had this past season
but the 83 team ran the ball 200 times more than the 2017 team

But Marino's rushing offense was never the same after the 83 season
