has the second highest rushing average of all players so far this preseason with at least 15 attempts at 6.8ypc

Funny, the highest average belongs to McCaffery, which wouldn’t be the case if someone could’ve taken a better angle in game 2 ;)

But seriously, Drake looks even better than last year, his individual performance has been excellent. Sharp cuts, decisive running, good pass blocking and he tracked that deep ball excellently.

We may be looking at David
Johnson-like breakout season from #32

If he gets consistent help from the O line, look out.

If the OL continues to play as they have been he's going to go nuts this season.

There's legitimate reason for excitement with this kid, he's just getting acclimated with his role and work load and look how he's responded thus far.

What a threat in the receiving game as well.

My favorite Dolphin at the moment and a chance to become one of the better backs in football this season

I said last year, he looked like he grew into the position.

And going into this season he was numero uno on my list of possible "break out" seasons...if his line holds up. And no, taking reps from him to Ballage his nonsense. You give Gore 10-12, but Drake is the thoroughbred, and you let him run.

Gase needs to hand him and Gore the ball more.

The Jets are the perfect, aggressive-like defense that the play-action, bootleg, counters etc were designed to destroy.

You have to tailor your offense to the opponents weakness. This is a run and pa game

Agreed! But will Gase see it that way?

Dropping backing and trying to throw all over the place against the Jets is not ideal.

Trying to crash into their DL isnt ideal either... The best way to attack them IMO is with a quick passing game, and catch them off guard on occasionnal shots downfield as their CBs are slower guys...

Gase will base his game plan on what he perceives as an opponents weaknesses, as he should.

That being said, I don't expect him to change what he does early in games. That "dink and dunk" approach is what he believes in. When the opponent adjusts, he counters. He's playing chess, to some extent.

Assuming it is winning strategy, it all comes down to execution.

Btw ck did post good stats on what the Jets weakness is. They defend the run better when they have their 3-4 on the field. When in nickel, they give up rushing yards. However they defend the pass poorly in the 3-4. So you can mix it up

It will be interesting to see how the Sitton loss affects Drake's run lanes. If our OL can create run lanes, Drake is deadly in the open field. If we revert back to clogged run lanes, Drake's production will be very hit and miss.
