If healthy, I think the addition of Mawae would be a huge boost for our offensive line. Even though he's older, I think we could get a good two or three years from Mawae while we groom a young center behind him.

Mawae was so good in his prime. He was one of the few centers that was athletic enough to pull on a sweep, yet he was able to handle Timbo and Daryl Gardener when asked to do so. He's seen it all and I think his intelligence and talent would be a great addition for our Dolphins. Let's hope we can get him (I know Zach hopes we do because he's sick of playing against him!).

yeah maybe past his prime but still better then what we have now if he is %100 healthy.

Mawae is still one of the top centers in the game; even at 35. He is an immediately upgrade on the line, and he is better than everyone we have right now.

he's good till next year , I trust the coaching staff but it sure would be nice to get some younger guys at least under 30

With Mawae and Adams, Saban's strategy is to pick up guys for short term relatively cheap contracts. In the meantime he will use our picks to develop the positions for the long term. These vets can mentor the young guys as they develop. Doesn't hurt the young guiys to be around future HOFs. I think Saban won't do it unless it is financially reasonable. Saban is developing a group of young players that will be competative for a long time to come ... but we don't wantto throw a bunch of rooks and sophomores out there.

Gotta pass a physical OL need their upper body even more then a QB.

Definitely an upgrade.

Isn't that the thing about most free agents though? They are being let go for a reason.
He may be past his prime but he is still a huge upgrade for our line. I'd love to see him here for a season or 2.

exactly !!! couldn't have said it better myself....

I would love to get Mawae. He's old, but he's still among the top Centers in the NFL when healthy. Not only that, but it would send the Jets fans into a long spiral of depression....

We need to realize, getting Bentely is a longshot, and Mawae is probably the next best option....SIGN HIM!!

PHINZ RULE!!!

Even so, he's better than anything we have at center. Hadnot could be good, but he's probably a better guard.

Mawae is one of the most hated players among Dolphin fans. Why? Because he's freaking awesome, and could handle our best defenses over the past eight years. Even at 85 percent of his former self, he's still a solid player. Plus, he'll have a bone to pick now, which means he'll be fired up this year at the very least.

And he'd be a mother in those two games against the Jets. This is really a no brainer signing! He wont' be that pricy either!

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have ever seen on this board. You break down Saban to a T!

Besides MAYBE Brees, probably the most important signing for the Miami Dolphins is Kevin Mawae. Let me put it to you this way.... Mawae is a bigger upgrade over Seth McKinney or Rex Hadnot than Drew Brees is over Gus Frerrotte. I dont think anyone can argue against that.....
