Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
It's been 10 days since the Dolphins beat the Jets on Monday Night Football; our Quarterback of the future is now the Quarterback of now in Chad Henne. How will Chad Henne build off of the success in his first two NFL starts? In his first game against Buffalo he was asked to manage the game and in his 2nd start against the Jets he showed that he can do far more than manage a game. The Saints look as good as any team in the NFL but with that said I think the Miami Dolphins really matchup well with them.
Coming off of the bye week I expect to see some more wrinkles in the Wild-Cat offense and I fully expect Pat White to have involvement in some of these wrinkles. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are both playing as well or better than they ever have so getting them the rock whether it's the Wild-Cat or conventional offense is key to this game as it will allow us to control the ball which ultimatly allows us to control the clock and keep the ball out of Drew Brees' hands. If we enter this game with a "Shoot-out" mentaility than we are in for a long day. I am excited to see Chad Henne; to be honest Henne has me believing that he was best Quarterback in that draft class. Ted Ginn Jr. and Davone Bess seem ready to have a big game against very suspect Cornerback's for the Saints. Their secondary is young besides Darren Sharper who proved against the Jets that he has some gas in his tank. Our offense will be fine against an average Saints defense. The Saints defense has improved but they still don't scare me. Their defensive ends aren't speed rusher as they are more of a "bull-rush" tandem which makes me think Jake Long is going to be dominant all day because not many can match power for power with Big Jake. Jake Grove will be asked to handle Sedrick Ellis and based off of his play against Kris Jenkins I think he is up for it.
Our defense is what corncerns me as I am officially calling out Jason Taylor, Joey Porter, and Cameron Wake to get pressure on Drew Brees. Getting pressure on Brees is the only way to truly stop him and the Miami Dolphins have had good success getting pressure on Brees in the past which gives him a lifetime record of 0-3 against the Dolphins but that was when he was playing for the Chargers. No one, not even Peyton Manning, is playing as well as Brees so getting pressure on him will help our young corners such as Sean Smith and Vontae Davis in coverage. Tight Ends have killed us this season and even though he hasn't been as productive as he was in the past Jeremy Shockey is still dangerous. Channing Crowder will have to stop talking and play a little football. The Saints running game doesn't concern me much as our run defense is ranked 3rd in the league but Reggie Bush catching passes out of the abckfield causes reason for concern.
If we stick to our game plan and can run on their defense and control the clock than I truly think we can pull off the upset. JT and Joey Porter need to get to Brees and they need hit him and put him on his a$$ so he knows we are for real. The Saints best Offensive Linemen Jamaal Brown is out for the season and replaced by Jermon Bushrod. Pressure and controlling the clock are the most important keys to this game and I also think that taking shots deep and early with Chad Henne to Teddy Ginn will put this shakey Saints' secondary in their place...
