Key to lose to the bills? Blitz Allen!

Interesting, but who can provide inside pressure? David is out and Wilkins (sadly) has never been even close to the inside threat he was in college. It would be the perfect time for him to break out!

Wilkins was so successful at Clemson because Dexter Lawrence was drawing double teams all game long. It would be great to see him break out, but I have pretty low expectations for him vs the Bills OL. He is not a bad player or anything, but at the same time definitely not a guy we should have drafted 13th overall. Honestly, I would have preferred Lawrence who went 17th if we were dead set on DL.
 
It’s not just blitz it is man coverage as well. Allen and his receivers had big trouble with Pittsburg playing zone on them.

But if we cannot get a pass rush with 4 then we will lose as any qb with enough time can pick apart a defense with today’s rules.
 
Someone mentioned 21 dropped interceptions from Josh Allen last year and it has me salivating. I cannot backup the claim but it has been widely reported.

Jameis Winston had 30 which is crazy if you consider he threw 30 ints as well.

Allen had 4,544 yards last year with 37 TD and 10 ints. 37 TD with 31 picks doesn't seem quite so impressive.

Such an anomaly is bound to get back to normal this year.

Gonna need a pick from X this week. He's due.

That number seems really high. Officially Mahomes had the most dropped interceptions in the league with 18ish which set an NFL record.

Good post. Curious if we can get some info on what the Steelers did to keep him down. Did they blitz and if so what occurred? @NBP81 and @ChambersWI you are the kings at providing stats like this, what do you think?

No. One of the fancy site stats has something like 21 interceptable passes (whatever that is). But not 21 dropped interceptions.

NFL record? Didn't know the NFL recorded subjective stats like that. What's the source?

Too bad we can't generate a pass rush up the middle like the Steelers. Wilkins ain't it and Seiler has spurts but isn't really consistent.
 
steelers got pressure without blitzing and played coverage. That is what we will have to try.
 
Gonna have to shoot for coverage pressure and sacks. Also have to stick with the receiver (Diggs) longer as Allen tries to extend the plays.
 
Flo should copy the Steelers game plan. We have the personnel. I just don’t think he will because He’s stubborn like that.I fully expect to see blitz packages and man coverage like the first 4 times we faced him.

i agree we have to play coverage but we do not have the personnel the steelers have. They get pressure with tj watt and heyward. unless phillips turns into watt sunday. all the predications have us losing and a lot by 10 points or more. We need to score points and get turnovers. I don't know how I feel about this game.
