Key to the Game: Texans at Dolphins

Let's not get caught up in my Cleveland Browns prediction, there will be plenty of time for that. This is, after all, keys to the Texans game.

If the Texans:

1. Intercept Chad Henne over the middle with Glover Quin
2. Make an impact on special teams
3. Establish the run

...then Miami will not be able to win this game. The odds ARE against us, there's a reason Vegas has it at Texans -3. I just think this one, the Dolphins will pull off.

Let me say this, Houston played good against a very bad Colts team. Being there live the Colts looked dead coming out of the gate. Seriously, they were terrible. One thing I did notice on this game once the Colts stopped putting the ball on the ground in the first play of a series is Reggie Wayne was killing Joseph. I mean couldn't be covered. Wayne could have had 200 yards if Collins looked at him more or had more time. I think Marshall can have a huge game being covered by these guys. Also I think Gates can really stretch this team and maybe catch one or two. I think putting Bush in motion and in the slot being covered by Cushing is great. Run flies with that and have Cushing run downfield leaving space over the middle for Bess to exploit. If its zone have have Bush runa corner pattern and stretch the safeties even further.

As for Solai and checking is athletic ability I would rather him pull the Keith Traylor manuver against Denver. Denver even with TD didn't run well against us because Keith would just sit and block against what ever way Denver's oline tried to Slant. This would effective shut down the holes behind the center and kill cut back lanes and allow Zach to shoot the gaps and have less chance to miss the RB. Solai needs to do the same thing. Read the O and stuff the center from moving and have the other olinemen run into the centers ***. I want to see Solai Strength on display. If he stones the the center and doesn't worry about tackles he will kill their running game.

If we stop Andre Johnson, we will win the game. I think the defense will give a better showing this week.

Just spit balling here

Gee? Do you think the Texans are going to be gearing up to run their no huddle Offense much? :chuckle:

Great write up CK. It's nice to finally read a thread about X's and O's vs. all the we suck threads that have been on here lately.

Just a question to anyone out there. Does the VIP forum have more information/threads like this on it?

no not really, its like a ghost town for most part

i just look at this game in a matchup sense. We can hold these guys to within 20-24 points. Henne can put up 31+ IMO. The spread is not good for these guys IMO. Henne takes off runnning. If we do much better on 3rd down conversions (we really did not need to much vs. NE minus key points in game cus we did well on 1st and second down) then I think we wear these guys down in fourth qtr.

turnovers are key as always but Houston got gimmes last week. Just not seeing it this week. Henne gets ball out in a hurry to many diff receivers. I also see some gates sightings in this one.

Does anyone believe that Houston can score as quickly as the Pats did - because our D was well wore out by half time and we actually had the time of position - or near close to it... Too many missed tackles and blown assignments period. If Houston plays at that pace without error they will score quickly we will get demoralized. I don't think they are finely tuned machine in the pass game - stop the run game and make them pass - hopefully we can churn out 450 yards of Offense and 3 TDs and a FG for the win.

Last season the Texans averaged 24.4 (9th) points per game. The Patriots averaged 32.4 (1st) so statistically, no, they can't. But, that's last season and statistics are for geeks.

The Texans can put up points but they aren't as polished and efficient as the Patriots and the Dolphins aren't going to rollover like the Colts did.

You want to make the Texans pass? Who would you rather try to stop on a consistent basis, Andre Johnson or Arian Foster and Ben Tate?

I didnt get a chance to watch the Colts/Texans game. Did the Texans earn their 30 points or did the Colts give up 30 pts?
