I just wanted to hear some peoples thoughts on what are going to be the crucial aspects of the game vs the Patriots.

Personally I think the major area is going to be our d line vs the pats O line. They played better last week and gave Cassell time, but also it seemed like the jets were only rushing 3 for a majority of the game and dropping back into nickel coverage.

Also obviously special teams has to improve.
 
Defense: An early strong start will go a long way. Keep them pinned deep, and apply a lot of pressure on Cassel. Even though he has improved, the odds are against any quarterback, the farther they have to move the ball. On a long drive, our defense will get their opportunities at sacks, or turnovers.
Offense: Don't change a thing. Keep the long drives, no turnover, hard running offensive plan that we have used so successfully so far, but be ready to throw in a wrinkle (eg. Wildcat) once in a while.
Special Teams: Pray.
Oh, and check for cameras on the sidelines :)

But really we need to follow a similar game plan:

Control the middle of the field with the passing game. With Harrison and Thomas out Fasano Bess and our back should run wild in this game.

Get Ginn the freaking ball. Anyway you can get him a touch do it he is a game changer and no one on the Pats can tackle him in the open field.

Fergie, Kendall, and Vonnie have to own the line of scrimmage

STAY WITH THE RUN GAME. Even if they stop it at first you cannot abandon the running game they are gonna go all out to stop it but if we keep at it we will get the yards we need and own time of possession.

As for special teams PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD put Ginn back on punts and STAY IN YOUR LANES. Wrap up do not try to crush the guy get him to the groud and make them go on long drives.

Will Allen he has the biggest task Cassel and Moss are starting to get on the same page. Will needs to play big this Sunday. No Moss = looooong day for Cassel beacuse i do not think they can run the ball on us consistantly.
 
Long drives - NE leads the league in number long drives this year. Matt casell with his short throws running game . I think its like 23 drives of more than 7 minutes or something . clock control drives.Stop long drives.

Rushing attack - Miami 12 th(1175 yds total) in the league , NE - 8th(1322 yrds total) so need to stop the running game.NE also is field 4 different RB who have run for a 100 yds or more in 9 games [ new NFL record ] .only sammy morris is out so the rest of the 3 will be in action. Stop the Run.

Special Teams : Kick return NE (4th in the league with 25.9 yds/avg) ,miami 32nd spl teams need to step up

KR : Miami is better so do what is being done.

Defence
Sacks Miami - 29 NE 19 so sack more.

Rookies/First time starters in NE defence

Mayo , Guyton (UDFA 2008) [last few weeks brushi is in for 20% of the snap rest is all guyton] - ILB
LOLB - woods(UDFA 2006) first time starter
Wheatley - [slot] 4th round pick 2008
Mike richardson [CB] - 6th round Pick 2007 [IRed in 07] plays 50 % snap.
Merriweather [FS]- first year starter 2007 first round pick

this is the probelm last week in 3rd and 15 vs the jets guyton and mayo ended up in the same zone leaving keller wide open . alot of young guys which means alot of mistakes. the avg age of starting defence is 26 yr old even with the old LB added in alot of 22-23 yd old starting means the miami is going to have a field day.
 
you know we have more tricks up our sleeve every week we score on a trick play, whether it be via wildcat, flea flicker, WR reverse
 
WE need to be aggressive early.
Throw the ball on first down even if its for 5 or 6 yds.
Confuse the D by moving Ginn around, they will be looking for him this game.
Run the wildcat on short yardage, Ronnie and Ricky getting the ball on second and short, they always find a way of gaining a few yards.
Defense needs to hit Cassel.
Gotta stop the run.
 
there are many things we MUST do, but the main thing we need to do is to put pressure on cassel, every down. were going to need to get probably 5 sacks, and at least 1 INT.
 
1. Win time of possesion (which I think we are 6-0 when winning TOP)

2. Run the ball more than usual unless NE completely shuts it down

3. Can't play as conservative against NE as we did against Seattle and Oakland. A better team will beat us if we do that. Gotta play a sound game like against the Patriots in week 3 and the Chargers game.
 
We have to sustain long drives and keep our D off the field as much as possible. The stadium needs to be packed and used to our advantage. I'll be there, I just scored lower-level seats online for $180. So pumped for the game!
 
Spread out their defense with 3 and 4 receivers and then run run run the ball..

(Thats my guess and I'm sticking to it)

I think Wheatley is out for the year now, with a wrist or hand injury....

Score first
Line up a fleet of tanks (that would have been large enough to make General Patton have a wet dream) from sideline to sideline on kickoffs to prevent any type of return
