Keys to victory
Heat and humidity almost always line up on Dolphins' side
Between 1994 and 2003, the Dolphins were 18-1 at home in regular-season games played in August or September. That kind of dominance is not by chance or because the Dolphins were so overwhelmingly good early in the season. Last season, they were 0-2 as the team went belly up in myriad ugliness. But if the Dolphins are going in the right direction under new coach Nick Saban, the body-melting humidity of South Florida again becomes a factor and a big reason the Broncos are 0-6 in Miami. Denver attempted to get some conditioning work in the humidity by doing two days of work in Houston early in training camp. However, two days of practice is a long way from having to play a full game in the humidity.
Speedy Chambers meets banged-up Bailey
Bailey is one of the best in the business, and Chambers hasn't quite lived up to his potential in four years with the Dolphins. But Bailey is still bothered by a hamstring injury that kept him out of every game of the exhibition season, so it's fair to assume he is not at the top of his game. Given that, Chambers is a really good route runner and Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan loves to throw deep, expect Chambers to challenge Bailey at least a couple of times.
