The Dolphins like to defer.
The advantage would be if your D is stout, you stop them, score first,..and then at the half you get the ball. If that doesn't work, then you could be playing catchup.
But If you don't defer and you fail to score, it's a hot mess, because you're still playing catchup, and in an away game, once the opposing team has an early stop and score, then the next time our offense is on the field it's gonna be loud and we have zero momentum. It could easily snowball with a 3 and out, and good luck trying to take control of the half after that.
That's why I like to defer, because our strength is our D.
