Is Ginn going to be our primary kick returner this year? I don't think I have seen him back there once all preseason.

The official website lists him as the top kick returner and punt returner, so according to that he is.

I'm not so sure how accurate that is though, cause they list Patrick Cobbs as the second punt returner, ahead of Bess....I don't think I've seen Cobbs take a punt ever. then they list only Ginn and Bess as the kick returners, even though Cobbs has done that extensively.

Has anyone heard anything definitive on this?

Yea I would think we are gonna keep Ginn back there on returns ala Steve Smith until he really becomes an elite WR. I think that is why we are loving guys like Armstrong and Foster, as eventual replacement @ returner.

If Ginn has a huge year at WR, u can expect the team to look at other options in the return game next year . . . though I'm sure we will see Ginn out there still.

Ummm... did you forget about the return he took to the house against the chiefs in the third pre-season game. I think that pretty much summed up who is gonna return kicks this year.

He returned a punt for a TD. I think that they knew what Ginn could do and wanted to see what the others could. On the depth chart on the website they actually have Cobbs listed as the backup for kicks and Bess for punts.

i think all the coaches know what Ginn can do on returns and he was on the team so they let some other guys show what they have so they may have a chance of making the team.

Ginn WILL BE our punt and kick returner do not worry he is to dynamic not to be.

Ginn Will return Punts all season barring no injuries
Ginn/Bess/Cobbs will all share time returning kickoffs.

Yeah...I caught that PUNT that he returned for a touchdown. I didn't see him return a KICKOFF all preseason.

Nope....that's what I would have expected, but it's not how it is:

have you heard or read anything confirming this? this is exactly what I would think....but didn't know if the coaching staff had addressed it at all.

This is what sparano said yesterday:

(On if it's ok to have Ted Ginn returning kickoffs and punts while being the No. 1 receiver) - "I think that in a perfect situation, you really wouldn't want that, but I think if you have a guy labeled, Hey, this is your returner and that was his job one way or the other. But our returners are going to come by other positional players. Ted, (Davone) Bess, those types of people. (Patrick) Cobbs, whomever it might be, those are some guys that have returned for us this offseason. We need to be prepared that anybody that we put back there, no matter what the situation is can handle it. So I'm not really worried one way or the other about saving a guy doing this, doing that. We can't worry about that right now. We have to catch the people that are on top of us here."

Oops, sorry should have clarified, this is my opinion.

Ginn definately has the biggest advantages with Punt Returns, but using what we did in preseason I would say Bess and Cobbs will get alot of touches off of kickoffs.

Most likely you will see ginn/cobbs and Ginn/Bess combinations lineing up to return kicks.

If Ginna breaks out this year playing WR we will most likely see cobb/bess combo around midseason.

Bess really impressed me on punt returns. That guy has some sick agility. I kinda laughed when people compared him to Welker, and Im not going to do the same, but I do see a skillset that could have him developing into a player like that in time. That one return against NO was impressive. He literally slammed his right knee into the turf, stopped, and cut all the way back to his right and made 2 guys miss. I think we found a gem.

That's what I was saying. Ginn is #1 while his primary backup on kicks is Cobbs and Bess is the primary backup on punts.

which is not what the depth chart says....

it has Cobbs as second on punts, and not listed on kickoffs. ;)

Okay, I apologize. I guess I am a bit dislexic or something today.
