We all know how scary the kicking situation looks. Loyalty and continuity have their places but there becomes a time where there is a diminishing return. Let's not lose a game or two after a couple of years of red flags with this kicking game. I don't want to hear about hindsight later. This can still be corrected in advance. We are on the record with the concern and solutions now before disaster strikes, and it can still be fixed.
Looking around the league, there are some other kicking competitions that can be looked into. Dustin Hopkins is a kid many of us have argued for in the past, yet we've stayed the course. Of course, he's doing well in New Orleans now. But he's in a competition there, and we should keep an eye on it.

Justin Manton went to Baltimore after the draft and was considered a top kicking prospect this past draft season. He figures to be available. He may have promise.

Other kicking competitions are going on in Detroit, Denver and Cleveland.

The point is, once there are cuts, there may be options for Miami. Beyond that, Andrew Franks is not distinguished but he's never been coached up. We know Sturgis is limited health-wise, physically, and has a severe lack of mental toughness. You just can't go back to the well with Sturgis. You lose a game there, and jobs can be lost. This won't be hindsight. We're on the record now.
