Having locked up his long term Miami Dolphin contract and for Sons of Shula's personal benefit I am happy to share the Kiko Alonso's 2016 Highlights. Although there have been some anonymous FH posters who have been a tad slow to embrace El Bravo 47 as a Dolphin, we hope that you will still come on board - he's not just a "Yappy Chihuahua". I don't know the Spanish word for swag but Kiko's got it. Enjoy...

It's been sooooooooooooooooooooo long since we had a guy who forced fumbles, recovered fumbles, and actually _caught_ interceptions. I'm so happy to have him. The tackles for loss, excellent pursuit and other things are gravy. It's been far too long that we've had impotent LB's who didn't generate takeaways. Dansby maybe ... after that I'm drawing a blank for real takeaway LB's since ZT and JT.

Winning the turnover battle wins games. Kiko is instinctive and impactful. I'm very glad we got him and now signed him.

This guy went from being shipped off twice in his first 4 years to getting overpaid after one decent season where he was playing alongside practice squad linebackers. Fascinating. I guess all it takes is getting matched up with the right GM at the right time and place.

The more prudent investment would've been to have him play on the tender, prove he can stay healthy again and see how he performs when he isn't playing with scrub LBs and then you go from there. And the whole point of locking a guy up early is to pay him less then he'd command on the open market in the future...it defeats the purpose if you end up overpaying.

I remember his rookie season for Buffalo, how envious I was watching him play for a division rival, wondering why our FO couldn't find LBs like him in the draft. He was a legit defensive ROY candidate. He had an unfortunate knee injury, which he re injured in Philly. It took him a yr to fully recover and he picked up where he left off his rookie season. He deserved the contract he received, so I don't see what he has to prove.

I don't think that video spent enough time showing the SD int.

Right lol...I like Kiko despite his flaws, but this video was ridiculous. Literally more than half of it dedicated to one play. And then another quarter showing plays that werent even impressive.

It's been said again and again, keep Kiko clean and he'll look awesome. Don't and it won't be pretty. What value do you place on a guy like that? It's a real pickle.

Oh man love Kiko. I miss seeing that hit on the jets RB where he just dove right through the hole like a missile!!

That pick six against the Chargers is the play from last year that stands out to me. Sitting at 4-4 in a tight game, everything looked like it was going to end very Dolphins-esque and be another 4th quarter collapse. It was a very uplifting play from this fan's perspective. Curbed my defeatism this team has inflicted upon me over years and years of watching Dolphins games. Kiko isn't the ideal linebacker but he is a playmaker! One of many players that is starting to bring back some exciting Dolphins football:up:

I stumbled across the video and had a good chuckle and thought that some other FH members might enjoy the Spanish commentary of Kiko's first TD. It was a tad over the top but El Bravo 47 looks good in aqua.
BTW - for all those who consider Kiko soft, Jimmy Garoppolo, Colin Kaepernick and the Jets player in the video do not concur.

First off the boy had a hell of a first season and was amazing in Buffalo.. If not for the injury he would have never left and would still be a thorn in our side.. And playing with scrubs shows just how good he can be if he stays healthy.. And when they didn't sign Vernon early look what they got.. Then you would say that he isn't worth the MASSIVE contract he would command.. Stop complaining :rolleyes2: and enjoy in the fact that we have a play-making LB that is still young and if health should be great for years to come.. :brewskis:

Yeah, that was the problem with the undersized Zach Thomas too. Fortunately, he had two great space eaters in front of him in Tim Bowens and Darryl Gardner during his career.

Kiko was playing behind two penetrators in Suh and Mitchell last year, so there wasn't much effort to keep our LB's clean last year, nor is there likely to be this year.

We utilize pursuit LB's playing off the line of scrimmage. We sacrifice clean linebackers for defensive line penetration to generate a pass rush against quick passing games, which is most of the NFL these days. (Thanks Bill Walsh).
