in that Ross could definitely do worse. If we improved by only 2 games we're pretty much in the playoffs and I think it's at least 50-50 that we will do that, even with all the boneheads staying.

If you bring in another dunderhead, which, c'mon, Ross probably would, then you're blowing up an 8-8 team, probably going back to being a 5-6 win team (or worse) cuz the new GM, who will probably be worse than Ireland because Ross will be hiring him, will put his stamp (stench) on the roster and coaching staff with a bunch of stiffs and buffoons even worse than the current stiffs and buffoons.

Ross's best point right now is that he doesn't know enough to trust himself to make a good decision. He's probably like "Well, I could really screw this up now and make it worse", so playing it safe is keeping everyone, even if the collective puke from the fanbase takes 6 months to clean up.

All it takes is for Ireland to make one draft pick where fans are like "yeah, I could see that" and everyone will be back on the bandwagon and patting everyone on the back for standing pat right now. He'll get one free agent that doesn't seem like a horrible idea and consensus will swing back in his favor.

That's right, Dolfans, I'm going the hope route by way of ridiculously jaded doubt.

Having said all this, Ireland will fired by the end of the week ;)

Seriously, pride and dignity are not assets of the Dolphin fan.

He could do worse, but that will be difficult to do. He is certainly not doing better by keeping Ireland. If he decides not to do better, he is an absentee landlord--an owner content with losing and mediocrity. We're facked as fans.

He could do worse...but he can also do better. As fans we deserve a chance at better than the last 6 years, no? :idk:

I won't kill you, but as I've said many times before. Being paralyzed in fear because of the unknown is a direct path to failure.

Name one great reason to keep his azz, cause i can't. I just can't believe we're gonna be stuck with the same staff for a whole year. Ross clearly has no idea what it takes to win, good luck with all them empty seats next season. And then he'll find a way to screw up the HC, GM search next offseason. Sorry I have no faith in the ability of of staff, FO and owner. Good thing I'm used to failure and disapointment.

Ok.....loading gun right now.

5 straight years of 8-8 and worse. 5 years he can't fix the o-line. He needs to go. If Ross is the business mogul he is purported to be, then all emotion aside, 5 years no winnng record means JI goes.

If your investment firm netted you NO GROWTH in five years....You would get somebody new, wouldn't you?

id kill you if i could get my hands around your neck.

If Ireland isn't fired, Ross loses a lot of fans and the stadium is a little more empty next year. Ireland has not helped improve this team in the slightest.

I wish we could say that bothers Ross but as we've seen he does not care.

So we keep Ireland because its theoretically possible to hire someone worse.

Sound logic.

its not a matter of fear of failure.

Its that the situation is strange. But then again, i went through this before.

one more year for everyone.....they are officially on notice. That is what I would do. Get rid of Sherman. Your QB basically said to. Fix the Oline and get the FA's signed. Otherwise, you pretty much have to blow it all up for anything to work. If you blow it up, your looking at another 3 years.

I know peoples desires to kill Ireland preceeds their better judgment, but hey, none of you have any answers to a solution. But dont fret, neither do they.....which is basically what I said.

they are on notice......if they all stay.

It's not remotely close to 50/50. That's the problem with most of the adjustments around here, the disconnect between real world likelihood and subjective impression. I don't mind the posters who try to deflect the stats threads but in doing so they seemingly have no idea that their version is a massive underdog, much more often than not. They'd literally be buried with one-sided action if they ever stuck their happily adjusted projections onto a betting board. It only works if you shout it and then get out of the way, with no burden.

The Dolphins season wins over/under next season will again be in the 8 range, not 10. I think it will be 8 with juice on the over or 8.5 with juice on the under.

We can root for 10 or beyond but if you stuck Miami at over/under 10 wins, the juice on the under would be in the -600 range (600 to win 100). That's not an exaggeration. One wise guy after another would pound the under, knowing he couldn't lose unless the Dolphins found 11-5 or better.

Theyre on notice now? Jeff Ireland has been here 6 years, his notice has run its course many moons ago. The only person who is on notice right now is Ross and he will breach his duty to the fans and be held negligent if he lets Ireland have a 7th year.
