Kiper sounds off on Tannehill and other phin draft picks.

F*** Kiper...Kiper is nothing but a pencil pushing pinhead. What the hell does he know about QBs..He probally hasnt played a down of football in his life. I know there are 100 guys who post on this board that are more qualified to evaluate the position of QB than he is. Some guys who are qualified like Gruden and Phil Simms loves the kid and thinks he is a franchise QB. Thats all that matters. I trust our FO, they have been evaluating him seen last august. Philbin knows his stuff, and I think everyone of us should be very very excited about the QB we had. Ill say this too, if Luck and RG3 didnt come out for whatever reason, Tannehill would probally have been drafted 1st overall, thats how good he is. But there is a dolphin bias mainly because our owner is an idiot, and because those two qbs did come out everyone said we overdrafted him...But im not worried about what all the experts say, the 4th qb we draft in the first round, wont happen for another very very long time.

I think you take Kiper way too serious, he knows more than you cause he gets paid by espn. Please don't mention Simms because he still thinks Travarus Jackson is going to be the second coming of Brett Farve

And just for the record, I don't agree with everything Kiper says either, but he watches way more college games than any of us combined

I'm not sure how much Kiper really knows about Philbin and the Packers. I'm guessing Tom Clements had more to do with Rodgers and Flynn's development than Philbin did.

LOUPHIN:

not saying your right or wrong, but you didnt offer anything to explain your theory.

any info on clemens being the guru and not philbin? guys like kiper have more inside info than guys like you and i. they get to talk to staff and other team insiders and they hear the ins and outs and whos-who in the coaching and front office.

kiper is not the only one who has said it is in fact philbin who is the guy responsable for the qb's development.

any further info? again, no flame, just wondering if you have info to disprove kipers statement.

I was constantly flipping back and forth between espn and nfl network for the draft. ESPN hates the dolphins no matter what they do, well most all of them. I actually saw the bias this time. NFL network at least gave an unbias opinion. Kiper is one of those people that gets an opinion for life and sticks to it.

whats funny to me is we have all these fans who rake kiper over the coals, curse him, call him everything but fine christian and discredit him with things like "he never played in the nfl, how does he know anything"?

but then they make board gurus for themselves who they follow and worship and agree with every fart they let and never call them to task when there huge misses come out, guys who are elected as gurus whoNEVER played in the nfl, much less football [and i am not talking soccer]. foriegners who never saw a quarter of the nfl games in their country growing up but their revered college/nfl personel experts.

why is that?

seems almost every negative thing i see written on kiper usually starts or includes with cracks about his hair and not to much in depth as to how the guy is so wrong and why he knows nothing as so many say. like bushbaum, kiper was an early pioneer who started his draft knowledge and expertice at 11 years old!! he turned it into a proffesion. the guy has more REAL HONEST TO GOD CONNECTIONS AND SOURCES than ANY of the so called board gurus do but kiper is the one who is out of touch.

is it because the board guys have better hair?

silly. yes, he IS a guy who gets paid [and well] for his OPINION and thats all ANY draft nick or gm can do. its an opinion. some work out, some dont. in every draft conversation and mock on the boards, guys defend their OPINIONS, and sometimes passionatly and heated. why doesnt kiper get a pass when when he defends his opinion?

would YOU not take money to run your pie holes about the draft? kiper is not some arm chair, cruise the net and cut and paste quotes and opinions from draft sites and post them to the awe of their worshippers. the guy has been keeping stats and info and spending his LIFE to the craft. he has TRUE connections in the nfl and has access to conversations and tape and info board posters and the elected gurus EVER WILL, but he is cursed as an idiot.

just doesnt add up. expecially if it gets down to his "look".

With the 6th and 7th rounders, you tend to go with guys who had good production but arent as athletic, or very athletic guys with low production, or special teamers. Randall isnt any of those imo. I guess he could be on our g-line base D, or a cheap replacement for McDaniel, but I dont see this guy even making the team unless we are forced to cut McDaniel for salary cap reasons. I would have rather picked someone else with this pick.

Great avatar, but you're dead wrong. Randall is EXTREMELY athletic. Freak-of-nature athletic. Best 10-yard split of any DT at the combine. 34 inch vertical. To put that in perspective, A. J. Green had a 34.5 inch vertical.

Kiper sucks... always downing the dolphins..

but his favorite coach of all times and his sports role model is DON SHULA.

he downs the dolphins because we are NOT the dolphins anymore. we are a faint whisper of the REAL miami dolphins legacy.

we are now the joke of the leauge and the laugh of our division foes fans. no one fears us. no one cares because WE HAVNT WON A SIGNIFICANT THING IN OVER 20+ YEARS!!

many of the fans of the team, and on this board didnt even know who dan marino was untill he was almost at retirement. some didnt know him or see him play at all. a few of us go back to the beginning of the legendary dolphins and we have seen it all.

the young fans in the shula and griese and marino years who were not finz fans, they knew the team, feared us and were witness to our legacy. we are not a legacy anymore and most of the people who are on sports boards are younger people in the 15 to 35 year old range and have only seen the miami dolphins imposter teams of the wanny to present nature.

we dont mean anything to the average nfl fan. we have no talent, no face, no wins.

so some like kiper crack on us because its true. we are a rotten franchise untill proven otherwise. if we were winners and relevant and he was cracking, i could see your ire, like that bloated anti american fool CHRIS BERMAN on espn. the fins have been making bad decisions both in coaching and personel for almost two decades now so whats he supposed to say if he thinks some of the decisions and choices dont look right?

i dont believe kiper is "anti dolphin". i just think he knows a skunk when he smells it.

OK, I'll bite. How is Chris Berman "anti american"?

very solid draft.prob the most i have been excited about after a dolphins draft in like 15 years.tannenhill ,miller and egnew got me siked for 2012

Kiper is the purveyor of unconventional wisdom. He is wrong just as much as he is right. Anyone of us could have that track record.

Berman is a Buffalo Bill through and through, but he was always giving Miami lots of positive comments during the Shula and Marino years. And why shouldn't he? He watched the Fins roll over the Bills 20 straight times during the 70's decade. 20 straight wins! That had to leave an impression on him. Shula is greatness. He recognizes that. Berman is an American Football media icon. He is definitely "American" I hate when folks throw that around.

Kiper is NEVER called on the players he's pimped that flop. I'd love to see a "Draft +3" show ont he 4-letter where all the comments of the draft "experten" are revied against their actual performances.

Mike Sherman and Ryan Tannehill took the 3rd most talented team in the Big 12 and went 6-6 .. failing to cover a single 2nd half spread .. why would they all of a sudden be a winning tandem in a more competitive level of football?

I have issues with the comparisons to Aaron Rodgers.... first, we've learned recently that Philbin was NOT the coach that developed the Green Bay QBs... and with respect to the draft position of each player, the quote suggests that Aaron Rodgers was a surprise as a QB because he went late in the first round... but Rodgers was considered to be a top talent, to go sometime immediately after Alex Smith. It was a shock that he slid as far as he did, because it was widely perceived that his talent level was much higher than his draft position. The opposite is true for Tannehill.... he was widely considered to be a lesser talent, worth a later pick, and the Dolphins supposedly reached for him. So, their circumstances are somewhat reversed. I'm a diehard Dolphins fan, though, and I hope Tannehill tears it up when he gets his shot!
