I had to go over to some STL Rams websites/forums to see what the situation was over there so that I don't fall for the hype of wishful thinking many fans fall into prior to the FA period.

So it's a no brainer and undebatable that STL plans on re-signing or franchising OJ Otogwe. So people, accept and get used to re-signing Renaldo Hill and maybe adding FS veteran Brian Dawkins to the mix.

Same thing with James Brown of BAL. He will be re-signed before anybody else, so get ready for either a rookie being groomed behind a Matt Birk, or Satele battling it out with Johnson.

Same thing with Dunte Robinson. He is the next big thing after Asoghomusha whatever from OAK at CB. He will be re-signed or franchise tagged as well in HOU.

So the only BIG name that we have a realistic chance at that is not a veteran like Dawkins or Birk.....is Jordan Gross of CAR or out of Ray Lewis or Bart Scott....whoever BAL deems more valuable for another run at the SB.

The rest is probably a WR.

Anything else will have to be a veteran or wait for the April draft.....or both.

Being realistic. I'd rather hope with what is "going" to happen...then wishing for something that isn't...

Well. That royaly sucks. I'm sure the FO will in some way try to upgrade at FS, but I don't see it from adding a vet like Dawkins .. I think he is a great safety but man we need to get younger! I believe all of our starting DB's are at youngest maybe 29 or 30

i say we go hard after bart scott or dansby

I would love to see Jason Allen get another shot at FS. I don't know why Sparano didn't like him there last year. The year before he was a pretty damn good playmaker back there at the end of the year. His speed and athleticism is unmatched in Miami's secondary. That would solve that problem if he could come through. And being in his second year in this system, maybe he can.

Hmmm...a terrible team in re-building mode with tons of cap space wants to re-sign it's brightest, young defensive player? Go figure.

just b/c htey have money doesnt mean teh player will accept the deal. not evrey player wants money and be on a major losing team. some want to win and sitll get paid. would u wnat to play for STL for 20 mill 4 year or miami lets say for 18 mill 4 year.

This thread is misleading.Until the Rams put the franchise tag on or even use it on OJ why mislead people?

If the Rams don't use the franchise tag on OJ what makes you so sure that OJ would want to resign for a losing franchise?Just because a team has lots of cap room means nothing.

Dawkins isn't leaving the Eagles, in fact he may even retire if they win the Super Bowl after they bury Arizona this week.

Ray Lewis is staying with Baltimore too......

And who cares about OJ Otogwe?

going with that logic, we're not going to land a single free agent. KC is around 45 million under. Minnesota is around 25 as well. don't discount that we're an attractive destination. we went to the playoffs. we're a team on the rise and who doesn't like the weather in Miami?

By the same token...every year we talk about the big names...the truly big ones and they always get franchised or go somewhere else...I think your second tier list is what we should be focused on. The reality is that if a team has a marquee player he probably isn't going anywhere. Occasionally an Asante Samuel shakes free...but it is so rare. I think with Carey, Crowder, and Bell we can put that thinking to rest even if we keep one or two of them. Smiley might have been their target last year...but he wasn't marquee

Who cares about big free agents....Let's go get our own players like we did last year.

I think there's more pride that way. It's more fun making somebody's out of no names.

Bess,Fasano,Akin,Smiley,Camarillo,Cobbs,Merling,Long,Langford .....all names that will be attached to Miami as sucssessful players.

Don't shoot me for posting this here, but our Lakers got robbed last night.

Reading your post made me think, it's been a long time since I've worried about another team robbing a good or great player from us. Welker is probably the closest thing I can think of. It would kinda be nice to have players like Boldin that other teams thought enough of to want to trade for. Not that I want to lose anybody, just the fact that our talen level has improved. JT was another but he didn't want to be here.
