Kitna is very underrated IMO. He was just starting to become a good starter when the Bengals decided that Palmer was to exspensive to be on the bench. He did have some growing pains in the league but that had alot to do with his former/present teams and teamates. Hasselbeck,Matt- had a rough start in the NFL but look at him now. I think we should give Kitna another look. Go ahead and blast me for this but Kitna is a quality QB that could start for the Fins.

of course he could start for us, and he'd be a nice upgrade over what we have...but i dont think hes a superbowl calibur QB unless our team is perfectly set for a SB run (a la balt ravens)

I'm not going to bash you. In fact I agree with you, Kitna is probably the best FA option at QB right now. He's also better than Gus. I can't see us getting Leinart or Rivers without giving up ALOT. Good post.

i take it you never saw Kitna play in Seattle?

i take it you didnt read his post considering he noted that and also said that kitna has improved and come a long way, which is true.

I would rather suck with youth and potential than wallow in more QB mediocritie. No to Kitna, we have enough back up QB's already.

I would love to bring Kitna in if we drafted a guy that might take a year or two to develop. Kitna is an accurate QB with a strong arm. In fact right now he would be my top FA pick. However if we got Rivers or a ready for the NFL rookie like Leinart I wouldn't think we would need him.

and i take it YOU didn't realize that Kitna's new found success in Cinncy could be attributed to all of the weapons he had there?

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today. If the Bengals had not drafted Palmer a year earlier, Kitna would still be leading their offense. I don't think he is a long term answer but he could serve well for a year or two and, IMO, is certainly better than the guy we currently have under center.

he did do better in cincy than gus did.

Gus played there when they were a lousy team with no weapons.....Not that he would be able to utilize Chad Johnson, Peter Warrick and Corey Dillon anyway.

Kitna would not be a bad choice to lead this team while it develops a young QB. His last 2 years as a starter in Cincy, he completed better than 62% of his passes. Frerotte's career best as a starter was 57% in 1996.
