looks like its our best option and it sounds good to me, start kitna for about 10 games then if were out of the playoff race bring in the future jay cutler!

Jay is a very raw prospect. I have personally watched him as a Vandy season ticket holder for the last three years. I think he has the size, arm strength, and foot quickness to be outstanding, but he is in no way prepared to step in next year and contribute.

haven't really watched him play this year and since you're a season ticket holder you can more than likely tell me, what kind of offense is vandy running this season and how often have they changed offensive schemes since cutler has been there because stats wise he seems to be flourishing in the scheme now but if they've changed often it's a good indicator of his learning curve

your right thats why we will have kitna to start the season, by the way nashfin were do you watch the fins games at?

Sam's in Hillsboro Village is always a good spot. The Box Seat in Green Hills is smokey, but also a good place.

Kitna and Cutler would be an ideal situation in my opinion. What would it take to get Kitna from the Cincy?

kitna is a free agent after this season and cincy def. won't franchise him so he'll hit the market unless they resign him during the season which i don't think he'll let them do because he has the opportunity to start somewhere

Kitna will not come in here for one season to learn the system, to only be seated the next for Cutler.

Face it folks, if we are gonna draft a QB high (Which I think we will) Gus will be here for one more season to teach the system. Gus is not an accurate passer but, the guy isn't an idiot, makes few mental mistakes, and knows Scott's system.

Kitna doesn't have a choice. At this point in his career he'd have to consider himself lucky to find a team that would be willing to give him the ability to COMPETE for a starting job, let alone a team that would just hand one over to him and not secure themselves a "QB of the future" type guy.

I'm just imagining right now Jon's agent negotiating with a team saying:

"I want assurances that the starting job will be Jon's, and that you guys won't go out and get a first round or second round guy that will take Jon's place within a year or two."

Answer, "Well I want ASSURANCES that this lottery ticket I bought will be worth a million dollars, but we don't always get what we want now do we?"

Incidentally, Kitna coupled with Cutler sounds ideal to me. Combine that with Cleo Lemon to serve as primary backup or compete with Kitna for the starting job, and I think we'd have a solid 2005 QB position. That would mean, though, that Lemon would have to get experience this season at some point, since we don't want a primary backup QB that has had zero experience during NFL games.
