I know I don't post much but as pathetic as it sounds I can't sleep bc of this team so I feel like venting and giving my rection to tonight's game to people who understand.
Positives:
-Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams/Patrick Cobbs: They all ran hard and came up with big plays in the running game tonight. I think Ronnie showed he is the real deal and out of the big fa's this season he is the most important to sign.
-O-line: Granted Pennington faced some pressure tonight, when you have 200 plus rushing yards and only allow two sack to Freeney and Mathis that's pretty impressive. There is still room for improvement.
-Special Teams: The coverage teams were a lot better tonight in my opinion. The coverage teams were much better than last week, but the return team wasn't great but not terrible. They didn't put Carpenter in very many good positions for FG's but he made 3/4 from over 45 yds.
Negatives:
-Pass Rush: Yep they got in Manning's face a little bit, but it only resulted in one sack and very few poor plays from the Indy Qb.
-Gibril Wilson/ Yeremiah Bell: So much for the best safety tandem in the league. Clark and Gonzalez have torn them up. Wilson cannot tackle to save his life and likely cost the Fins the game.
-Playcalling: Pennington and the passing offense was money on third and short and on their second to last offensive series they call a running play on 3rd and 8???
-Where was Bess?: He has one big catch, but why didn't he get worked into the offense more. He could have been crucial on third downs late in the game.
-Ted Ginn: Need I say more. Yes he had 100 yds, but when the big plays were needed he didn't show up. 2 Td's that could have potentially been HUGE plays and he dropped them. Yes you can say the ball was overthrown or he was covered, but big time players make big time plays. I don't think any of us can say Ted Ginn is a or will be a big time player.
Overall, I thought the team played about as perfect of a game as possible until the last 3 minutes. They controlled the clock and moved the ball. Maybe my observations are a little off (I've been drinking haha), but I just don't see how they can compete with the big boys in the AFC until they get a prime time MLB and until the young corners get more experience.
