Knee Surgery to sideline David Garrard

Playing is learning you can't simulate a true blitz in practice because they can't touch the Qb. I personally have all the patience in the world for Tannehill this season this is a 5-7 win team regardless of the qb.

I realize this is a season of minimal wins. Tannehill was my favorite player in the draft going back to 2010. For me it kinda like seeing a new born baby grow. He only had 19 starts in college, and am scared he'll turn out to be another Sanchez. This kid has real potential unlike the others in recent years. So if he fails it will hurt even more than usual.

Exactly. Lets just see where he is after seeing #2's in this league. I can be patient with him...can others around here? Does not sound it.

This is Finheaven afterall.

Of course I wanted Orton. Are you suggesting Henne is a better player than Orton? Where am I wrong?

Also be aware of the fact that I was one of the few that thought Matt Moore was a good player and highly underrated long before we brought him in.

Youre seriously not telling me that Orton wouldnt have been an upgrade to Henne are you?

Get ****ing real dude.

LOL. Being better than Chad Henne isn't reason enough to give a guy a big contract that basically means he has to be the starter going forward. Lots of quarterbacks are better than Chad Henne. YOU were banging the table for Orton, who is terrible, and the big money he would have gotten had you got your way would have been a weight on the back of the franchise.

It was a terrible call. A terrible evaluation. Given how much you're patting yourself on the back here in this thread by citing Garrard's injury as proof of a bizarro conspiracy theory on his part of which you have no proof it's important you be reminded that you wanted ORTON. Who BLOWS.

Own up to it.

Good, Miami wasn't going anywhere but to the loss column with this bum. One less piece of trash in the way of Tannehill. Oh and hopefully no more scenes of Garrard and his fugly wife on hardknocks.

Here is what I don't understand. Garrard says they are doing it to just remove stuff "floating around" caused by age and wear and tear. Ok, that I get. But how did they NOT know about this before naming him the starter? It just seems odd to me.

Forgive my spelling. This was sent from my phone.

Ive already cracked this case days ago. I told you what would happen. Believe it. Its called Garrard taking money for nothing and going home. Dont you find it curious this comes out before gametime? He dosent want to see the field when he isnt wearing that red jersey.

Tannahill was one of three qbs competing to start. Gerrard going down doesn't put Tannahill number one. However, I loved the chemistry he had with the young wars.

What is it youre wanting me to say about Orton exactly?

Only the truth. Which is that he BLOWS and it was stupid to advocate giving up a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick and big $$ to get him.

He isnt great, thats for sure. I certainly was a huge advocate of trading for him. Im not so sure I ever wanted to give him a big contract.

Thing is, we had Chad Henne. When youre QB is Chad Henne, it does things to you. You want so badly for your QB to not be Chad Henne, that you are willing to trade for guys like Kyle Orton. Besides, how can you be so sure Orton wouldnt have been decent for us. Well, I guess it wouldve been tough with Sparano as our coach, but never the less, you act as if it was the dumbest thing ever to want Orton when we had Henne.

But, since you insist, lets look back at all of my QB calls since I joined FH and where the rest of the board fell on the discussion...... (Also dont forget I was way out in front on drafting a QB in round 1, in which case had when done that when I suggested, I certainly wouldve never been wanting to bring Orton in because we never wouldve had Henne in the first place. We would be in the playoffs every year already with Matt Ryan)

It all started with Daunte Culpepper

Culpepper..... I of course knew this guy was a bum, never wanted him, jumped on his bandwagon for a short while just because we were going to roll with him and I wanted us to win, but quickly knew he wasnt going to do anything for us. A lot of people felt the same way I did so it wasnt like I made some great call or anything, but it was an epic FH debate. Remember the "manifesto" I took a ban or two during this war. But, of course I was on the right side of it. 1 for 1 so far.

Beck....... Of course I was stoked about Beck after taking him. But, it didnt take long after watching this guy play to figure out he was total garbage. Another epic FH battle. 2 for 2

Pennington..... Here's one that I called on Feb 1st of that year, long before we ever signed Pennington. I made a thread that completely nailed why he would be perfect for us at QB that year. 7 months later we sign him, I predict an 11 win season. Everything I wrote in that Feb thread came to fruition and we of course won 11 games. To a tee. Not only that, when I wrote the initial thread hardly anyone agreed. Even after we signed him people thought it was a horrible idea. Very few were correct on this one. I wasnt just correct, I knocked it out of the park. 3 for 3

These are not sequencial if you havent noticed.

Green .... Yea, I thought Green would do well for us as a stop gap. ERRRRRR(buzzer noise). Although, he played better than people give him credit for in those 5 games. We shouldve won a couple of them and his numbers got skewed in the 4th qtr of that Cowboys game. Yet, he was a failure and I was totally wrong here. 3 for 4.

Orton.... You want to throw him in.... go ahead. Just call it a miss for me. Thats fine. Way different circumstance. But I will give that one to you. It was a long debate on FH for which I suppose I was on the wrong end. I guess. I still dont see how he isnt an upgrade over Henne. But, I guess trading for him wouldve served no purpose. Its not like we win anything had we gotten him. 3 for 5

MATTY ICE.... The big one. And still the one that has mattered most. Ive been looking for some of those old threads where we had heated debates about drafting 1st round QBs. Funny, now it seems after Tannehill's performance last night, everyone is sure as hell glad we spent a 1st rounder on a QB. This Ryan/Long debate went forever and of course picking Ryan over Long is a NO BRAINER. Its still the biggest blunder this franchise has made in years and its what really killed the Parcells era from the start. Colossal mistake. We will be so fortunate if Tannehill turns out to be as good as Matt Ryan. If he is better, it may be a blessing in disguise that Parcells was a moron, but fact is we are 4 years behind where we could already be had we just taken a QB in the first round that year instead of this year. Huge win for me..... 4 for 6

Check this gem of a thread out. Dr Slimm kills them in this one.

Chad Henne ...... This became more epic than the Beck threads. I of course was ready to dump Henne long before most. Im sure there were plenty who figured out he was as bad as he was before I did. But, it didnt take me too long. That long TD to Ginn vs. the Jets stuck some hope in there that was tough to shed, but once that wore off it was so obvious that Chad Henne was one of the worst QBs to start in a long long time. Again, I wasnt the lone ranger saying we needed to get rid of this clown, but as usual I was on the right side of an epic debate. 5 for 7

Garrard.... Not only did I say this guy was trash, I deduced exactly how this **** would go down. As you can see, I was pretty much alone on this one. There were plenty of people who felt Garrard wasnt that good ever, was washed up and would likely get injured, but who else went as far as to call out his character and know that he would be here just trying to collect a free check and would come up injured for that reason. Huge win for me and you hate it. Thats why you come out of left field just searching for a time when I missed. Sometimes you should just tip your god damn cap man. 6 for 8

Am I missing anyone? Directly fins related that brought out strong debate here on FH of course. Thats 6 for 8. And in the QB dept, thats strong. Better than most GMs in football and certainly strong for the FH debates. The two I missed were of course the 2 most insignifigant ones. Orton was never even brought in to play here and Green was never more than a one year stop gap try as it was. The real issue was Beck. Im sure there is probably some lurker who had it right on all 8 of these players. But, for being in all of the debates and taking heat in all of them, there are a lot of butt hurt folks who cant stand it when the case is proven and I turn out to be spot on. Luckily, they have you and Dlockz on patrol.

While I was never been sold on Garrard being the best quarterback for starter, I am also not sold on your theory about him getting hurt just to collect his checks.
Since my last post information has come out saying that he hurt his knee Thursday night and then swelling was so bad the team decided to sit him and order surgery. The way I see it is if the team believes he needs surgery then he isn't faking it.

That said, I don't see it as a huge loss either. Especially since Tannehill is making a great case for himself to become the starter. Garrard getting hurt has done nothing but open the door further for him to step up to the plate. Not to mention Garrard being hurt puts him in danger of being cut, especially if he is hurt when the season starts. I could easily see the team dumping an injury prone quarterback in favor of a career back quarterback.
