Donnie Walsh is set to pull the trigger on his first substantive move as Knicks president, The New York Post has learned. Knicks sources said a deal for Al Harrington was to go through late yesterday, but was delayed until today. A league conference call is scheduled for this morning that would bring the disgruntled Warriors forward to the Knicks, presumably for Malik Rose. Harrington has two years left on his deal--currently $9.3 million with $10M guaranteed on tap in 2009-10. Rose, attractive to the Warriors because of his expiring contract, is set to make $7.64 million this year. The deal can be made one-for-one because their salaries are within 25 percent (plus 100G) of each other.

a lot difference. i dont understand this from the knicks stand point. harrington is overrated and overpaid imo.

Its all based on this fantasy of Lebron or Wade coming to NY in '10. They're headed the same direction as the Nets....take what they can get for anything on their roster so long as they get less years in return.

True that.Whos going to play the 2?Too many players that fit Harringtons mold.NY is going to be really bad after all the trade business.

Donnie Walsh was the right man for the job, he's going to fix that team and make them a contender by 2011. By making a strong push for a big name free agent like Lebron.

Oh well, the Knicks awfulness was fun while it lasted!

Warriors got the better end of the deal. Harrington's head was out of the Bay Area when Baron was traded. Can't say I blame him though.......

but Harrington is pretty damn overrated. he thinks he's the **** and will shoot your *** out of the game. He's very streaky and can be a big asset at times, but he's best as like the 4th or 5th best man on your team. Way overpaid.
