One of the goals of the new Knick administration likely will be to get under the salary cap after 2009-2010 to have a crack at LeBron James. And the only way that would be possible is if they can deal Zach Randolph for shorter-term contracts. Randolph's contract runs to 2011, when he makes $17.8 million. If the Knicks trade Randolph and either Eddy Curry or Jamal Crawford for short-term deals, they can be under the cap and in the bidding for King James. As reported here yesterday, a new Web site was launched Wednesday - www.nycforlebron.com - taking donations for incentive gifts for James to become a Knic

certainly that would be a huge move in order to resuscitate the Knicks franchise. If they can deal Curry and Randolph and get under the cap, they should at least try it. Bringing in a player of Lebron's caliber will not only pack the garden every night, bring in millions and millions of dollars for the team, and give them exposure they haven't had in a while. But it will make them good, contenders in the east, winners, and thats the most important thing.

hopefully they can revive that franchise. #1 get rid of Isaih Thomas.

the cavs will always be able to pay him more than the knicks can...and its not like he would be making more in endorsement dollars...i dont see why lebron would leave his home town willingly

There is always room to make more in endorsement. Nike is not the only one. McD's anyone.

I think if Lebron was to leave anywhere, it would be to the Nets. He's best friends with Jay Z.

I heard LeBro say in a commercial how he wants to "compete for a ring" every year.....well LeBron you will NEVER win a ring in New York.....but you go ahead and make all the money you can with a sorry team *wink, wink*

Why wouldn't he be able to win a ring in NY? Considering he would be the center piece if said deal were in place. If Dolan ever has the stones to can Isiah and they completely change the way the front office operates I think they can compete. Last year at this time who thought the Celtics and Lakers would be title contenders?

As much of a microscope LeBron is under in Cleveland; the amount of coverage he'd get if he were to go to NY would be ridiculous. It's better for the NBA to have the Knicks as a contender.

Exactly, and because of that, because the Knicks would again be a successful team and a place where big name players can come and play with Lebron, and compete to win a title, i think it would again be very attractable for a lot of players to come. Which it certainly isn't right now.

One thing that I think would work against him if he were to play for NY. I believe he along with Kobe are two of the worst interviews in all of sports. Kobe has been in LA his whole career; but lets face it LA's media is a poodle compared to NY's being a pitbull.
